I’ve just found your channel, and love that you focus on the practicalities of ladies attire in the various periods. - I think I’ve only watched 4 of your videos so far. What I really wanted to say is that I 100% share your attitude to the use of real fur. I have said for many many years, since the 80’s, that I believe that real fur is far better than fake as long as it’s vintage, and now, of course there’s the environmental argument. Fake fur is just basically strands of plastic, that also shed from the garment and contaminate the environment. I have rescued, and still do, vintage fur garments that I find in charity shops because, as you say, the animal that died to provide the material for the garment deserves to be honoured. It does not, in any way, mean that I condone the practice of farming animals for their fur / skins whether that be in the past, or the present time. I very much feel that, what is done, is done, with regard to the past and it’s far worse to look on the real fur items in the present time with disgust, and just throw them away as rubbish. As far as modern times is concerned, I am horrified when I see mountains of British sheep fleece being burned because the farmers are unable to sell it. I also believe that, in our modern age, for environmental reasons, we should make use of the inevitable by-products of the meat industry, which is what we humans did in the distant past when we hunted for our food. It was dangerous and hard work, and they made use of every part of the animal, which I think, is far more honourable way to treat an animal, than what our modern society / culture / practices allow. Please note that while I share your attitude with regard to what you said on this subject in this video, the rest is just my opinion. I have no intention to be controversial, I just believe that we should consider context and be more pragmatic in our attitudes to some things. It just seems a little too easy to just see black & white on some issues.

This whole outfit looks so luxuriously snug. I like how neatly the skirt fits around the hips, with the coat tucking over it and shaping the waist, and how the belt buckle sticks out in the middle like a little Christmas ornament. You look like an illustration on a holiday card.

We did have some pretty warm weather earlier this year here in Switzerland. In the past few days we had snow-rain and it was about 4-7°C. It's a shame you brought all these wonderful garments and weren't able to wear them. You look fabulous in this red dress. And Lukas looked very handsome in his outfit. I hope you had a great time in Kandersteg.

I love how you wear all these clothes so well that different prints or styles (like that top petticoat) look like they're cutting edge fashion when you wear them. I can look at them and see that it's a vintage print or style, but I can also see them as being the height of fashion. I don't know how you do it, but it's really fun to watch.

Awesome as always! About that kilted petticoat - even down jackets feel like wearing a blanket, that's what you indeed need when it gets cold. And nowadays riders and hikers wear kilted skirts again in the freezing winter weather. So it comes again. I'm wondering if I should get an inspired outfit for coming winters... Well, some year!

Lovely dress! It's always a little jarring hearing people say that 7° is too warm...here in Texas, we start saying that when it reaches about 32-33° (which would be 90°f). 7° is about when we want our wool.

She means it's quite warm for this outfit. Geez. I live in Wisconsin, but grew up for 5 years in Texas and Arizona and find 68 cold. I would have roasted in this outfit. That full ensemble is meant for negative temperatures - or single digits at the highest - especially with the fur. It's not meant for 40 degrees. A wig also makes you pretty hot too. Been there.

Sorry,i noticed in several videos about winter/ cold outfuts,that upper body layers of clothing thinner than lower body layers - petticoats. Obviously lower body has a lot of warmer. But upper body- chemise + blouse and wool jacket seems not enough for me. Winter outfits are not uneven. I will glad to hear some explanations. Originally i am from Latvia for Baltic winter climate one wool lining jacket seems not enough😂 Thanks .
@xyqz9324
@xyqz9324 4 ай бұрын
Layering (we call it onioning) and natural fibers are actually great at keeping you warm, and you have the corsett as a layer as well. And if you then make sure to not lose heat in your extremities or via your head (so keeping your legs and feet warm, gloves, hat), that can work pretty well. I've never tried dress like this myself I only have medieval versions, but I am from Switzerland and can tell that there's quite a difference whether for example you keep your neck and head warm with scarves and a hat, or not. Baltic winter is likely quite a bit colder though 😬

@@xyqz9324 Thank you. Probably Isabella shows us winter clothing for Central Europe. But i feel like ,lady needs additional coat😂 In my country humidity is high,windy, and very cold/ uncomfort feeling in shoulders and arms..Yes, scarfs and hats are necessary.But i still so curious ,why clothing is so uneven ,will be great to get some information about ladies winter outfits in Russia and Scandinavia in 19 century.🤔

I think you were not listening carefully enough. I had to shed layers due to the fact that it was warm- 10 C degrees, originally I planned to wear it all with extra layers ( wool waistcoat, and wool flannel/ knitted corset cover and then the fur or another coat… you adapt to what you are comfortable with . Thickness and weave if the wool is always a big factor too- as well as quilting and layers. I was fine in Finland in - 20 wearing just 4 layers due to the fact it was quilted with wool or the wool jacket and capelets were enough. But the en again I like cold weather - I boil in 20 degrees !
