I must admit that the replacement mortar in the brick joints does look far better. Did you know that the GWR, who took over the Barry Railway in 1923, used loco. ash in their mortar to give it their grey ish black look to enhance their stations? Wonderful work with your project. Regards, Paul.

Thank you for the recap and overview. It is so exciting to be this close to the structural steel replacement, though watching that process may be pretty nerve-wracking. Being able to re-use original materials for the roof patches will be great. If they put new slates on the outbuildings, at least it will look the best if they aren't so close together because of color differences. When planning and executing a big project, being flexible is key, though sometimes very hard.

You've done a lot. Would be great for plans to go smoothly, but are flexible. You come across unexpected things which usually cost a lot of money, then there are the trades etc. just stick to what you want and don't compromise, even if it takes a bit longer and you have to find the funds, just stick to your vision. Nothing worse than just making do, you'll never be happy and probably revisiting in the future which will be more expense and disruption.

I've been following since the beginning, and I would say you've done a lot in six months. Then again, I didn't realize you put yourselves on a timeline and feel let down that you didn't meet that goal. I also thought that you would have ripped out all of the walls, leaving the weight bearing studs and then start with a "clean slate" design . Of course, you may still do that once the new steel is installed for the roof. What you might also consider for your windows would be to replace just those that will affect your living/great room design with stain glass and any of the rest with just tinted glass. That way, you would still gain light without the solar heat.

I can't count either so this is not anything other than, what phase are you on? Lots of work on the outside, lovely gardens and a shed, lovely 2nd hand mobile home, pointing could have been better. They used angle grinders so now all the brickwork is rounded. If they couldn't have scraped it out by hand, there was nothing wrong with it. It will be weather proof I am sure but they stuffed it up in terms of the finish. Out buildings are doing well, what phase is, get the house done so you can move in? Having worked on many refurbishments, the interior is always 1st consideration followed by, is the exterior good enough to start with said interior? If not, then it is usually the roof. Replace the entire roof, don't run out of money before that has been done and never start on a garden or outbuildings just in case. Do you have a bottomless pit of money are is this YT channel paying so well you don't have to consider money ? This all seams a little backwards to me having spent my entire working career taking care of very elderly and in some cases, ancient British buildings Grade II and I. No name and no face just like the rest here, I don't need the attention. I honestly hope you end up with the dream home you desire but having said that, you should have already moved in and phase 2 would be the surrounds, garden, outbuildings, etc. I am also a TROLL Don't believe a word I ever say Good luck
