Question: Is building the decking for a Cabin essential to getting your new house done? Should you not be concentrating on the house?
@jennifercook74506 сағат бұрын
Im sure living in a mobile home is cramped and what your building next will be extra space for your family which you will be using for the foreseeable future,its all tied up together,i love to watch any progress as it's life ,and i can't understand why people think they can complain,you carry on just as you are the only people that need to change are the complainers

Looks great. The new deck will look great. I'm just now having to replace the wood treads of the 5 year old porch steps of our Boston home with Trex -- the wood has rotted and failed after exposure to the harsh climate here. We did our best to keep it painted and it wasn't enough. I know wood is gorgeous. Perhaps you might consider a composite for your new deck.

I love watching Gil working in fast forward, reminds me of a Looney Tunes cartoon! How does it feel to not only be living in a trailer, but also building a deck where, 60 years ago, trains ran thru? I'd bet it would be interesting 😂😂❤❤ I really enjoy these videos, please keep making them!

In Ontario Canada that deck is illegal. Nails must be used on the joists and hangers. Screws do not have the sheer strength of nails. Thats our building code.

What kind of wood is that? In my part of the world the structural wood is predominantly Douglas fir, which has a much more yellowish color to it than the one used to frame the deck.
@alantorrance615315 сағат бұрын
How to frame-up to kill one previously healthy large tree. Cover the roots with plastic and cover the lot with decking so no water can get through to nourish the previously healthy tree.
@theoldstationrenovation15 сағат бұрын
Let’s see if it thrives, it grew over of membrane and spanned a wall, it’s a determined tree and we are using webbing and it’s in the gully where all rain water is directed, don’t think it will have a shortage 👍
@jwall600615 сағат бұрын
If you need a gift idea for Gil, maybe a circular saw or a miter saw. So much easier than a jig saw. Also I love how playful your dogs are. If I had left a cup of any drink out like that, my dog would have come, taken a drink and then she’d want her ball thrown. Like your dogs mine will have me throw the ball hundreds of times a day. You are doing a great job.

I have a thought about the Caravan but someone may have already pitched the idea. Create a simple exterior facade overlay and paint it to look like a traditional mid-century Railroad passenger car and then rent it out as an AirB+B at the Old Station.

OK on your review for this video I’m going to give you a thumbs up but be cautious. The video is supposed to be about you guys refurbishing the train station the old railroad station for your home. I understand that you have land work that you want to do and other buildings that you wanna add to the land we get that but when you stop showing us what’s going on with the railroad station then we have to wonder what what is this channel really about so on the side of caution try to add more about what work is being done to the station as well as what work you’re doing to the other parts of the grounds around the station too.
@theoldstationrenovation16 сағат бұрын
We are currently working on the garden while we are waiting on the next stage of the station which is the steel beams to hold the structure up.

@@theoldstationrenovationI’m guessing these beams are being made to order. Don’t listen to this person as most people understand that you will be working on all areas that will make the station your home that means building and garden… you’ve never pretended it would be otherwise.
