Hey Kage, always good to see you playing EGS again. Anyway, Reforged Eden, sooooo...... Its about 10x the content of the vanilla game, some of it you can get into very quickly, some of the very late game stuff such as anti-matter warp drives takes many many hours to grind away at but its really up to you how far you go into it. You can enjoy most of the main missions without much grind and dont forget you can just tailor the setting to speed things up for you. Some of the content is also designed for multiplayer, but again, you dont have to do it. There really is a lot of optional content. But the missions, the POIs, the weapons, the galaxy as a whole is soooo much better and much more dangerous! I highly recommend it. Now I play RE and pretend I'm Spanj.... except I'm a Yank so I sound dumb when I call something "cheeky". Now I'm back here for the nostalgia....lol. Thank you for NOT doing a Reforged series. There are still quite a few of us out there that prefer the true base game. Reforged is a great scenario and it was fun to play through once in multiplayer, but I did not find it so fun playing solo. Plus, there are plenty of other people doing RE videos. 1.8 has a lot of new changes. I would love to see you do a Vanilla series after 1.8 drops.

I don’t find Reforged Eden to be slow. There is a TON more of stuff to put points into and also at least twice as much to explore. I highly recommend it!

@@DieTabbi I'd say you should play the base game first to get know the basic story but especially the game mechanics. There are major differences in the modded version which just changes the whole experience. But if you just want to hop in to the Reforged Eden and start with it that's totally okay too.

I also do not find Reforged Eden slow. There is a tremendous amount of new content that RE adds, including more missions and more POI's. They did balance out the sell prices... so getting rich off of weapon sales doesn't happen. The increase in planets and tech tree items adds more depth in my opinion. The addition of hydroponic units also makes farming so much easier, but you have to really work to get them. With that being said, I am just glad to see you playing Empyrion again. I always enjoy your playthroughs! Keep up the great work my friend.

Reforged Eden is not slow, its just more chalenging. And there is a lot more to do, better missions, more planets, more weapons, more POIs. Its the game amped up to 5x. You really should give it a chance, there is waaaaay more content in RE than on vanilla EGS.

I’m not a good player either but the game has a save function that I use before I take on something difficult and reload if I fail. Sometimes when take on a zirax poi you can get in a deathloop which is catastrophic and have to start all over again. Also you can carry an infinite amount of weight in backpack and vessels by selecting it on game start menu that can be changed at any time.

Reforged is spread out further, but it does so by adding content. On the downside, it is harder, both in AI and in resources. My own play is stalling a lot due to a massive lack of Titanium in the region. There's only one area in the solar system that has any at all and everything above 'level 10' tends to need it.

to take all out of the portable constructor just pick it up, and shift+F the box it leaves behind to take all from that. I do it all the time :)

I have been playing Reforged Eden for 2 years now and find it superior to vanilla but definitely more of a grind at the start. Far more to do and explore (including a POI named after you Kage848!) with more factions and items and weapons and explore-able universe. I would definitely recommend it.

Hover vehicles do make the superior land attack vessel. Hover tanks can hold so many weapons.

Just fyi, you can sell to a trader from connected inventories now. No need to move the items to your inventory. Same when your buying. All items will go to your ship automatically.

I play Reforged Eden, there is a lot more to it than the vanilla game. It is geared more towards multiplayer. There are POI's that are clearly MP POI's, despite what Vermillion says. Doing those in single player, you will die a lot, (I know this from experience, taking on 15 enemies rushing you all at once with turrets shooting at you, is not SP, and with spawners you can't see, trudging back though a big POI after dying is not for the faint of heart). Also some POI defenses are clearly made for MP. You can multiple times die just trying to get inside. Vermillion stated that some POI's shields are supposed to come back after being knocked down, again, hard to deal with in SP. I like playing RE (I play SP), but truth be told, it's made for MP.

If you build a base on a clear spot with less surrounding trees, you can run it with solar panels. Best place would be on the equator near a spot of water.

Solar panels can even be built underground. Nothing obscures them. Just build near the equator and face them up because the angle of the sun matters.

RE can be slow at first for players new to reforged eden. There is (and i cannot emphasize this enough) A LOT to it. It changes and adds so much to the game that it can be a lot to learn. However, once you get past that initial learning curve, early and mid game content can move rather quickly. At that point, it becomes as slow or as fast paced as you choose to make it. Depends entirely on how much you want to explore and get distracted by shinies. End game however is a grind. Once you start getting into progenitor tech it does REALLY slow down, as end game content in any game should. That being said, it is not for new players. It is not easy. It is a challenge. And a darn good one at that. Just remember, if you do decide to try it out, you will find no shame from me for starting off on easy difficulty 😃

Reforged Eden is mainly a little slower at first because it adds so many new things to the game, it really enhances the experience and I'd recommend it! Either way nice series :)

You can just tunnel up with your miner to get out. Or you could tunnel down to it(gradual ramp). I recommend making an underground parking structure for your vehicles anyways.

Reforged Eden IS a lot more grindy. 1.8 is like a different game, progression is remapped. If you can sell guns and make money to buy ore and build a sweet ship w/o mining/scavenging everything yourself in system in 1.8 i have not found that yet. It is a great re-fit, and i think you will like it. But if you are gunna do RE, play with friends in a group or it's just to grindy. RE is more awesome in multi-player. Also, check out the HAWK REFORGED small vessel in the shop. It is vanilla, and a great starting SV (best i have found). It has 9k storage. Love the vids!

For Reforged Eden: Early Early Game and Early game it's pretty much the same, for mid game it's drone hunting and various other things, Late game and you're doing Legacy. It's not that it's slow, it's that there is so much more to do to the point where sometimes it's overwhelming. There's a whole slew of new equipment, weapons, ect. There's auto mining lasers, and all kinds of new resources. There's also a class system where you can specialize in engineering and various weapons. Not to mention all the new quests and even a bounty hunting system if you want to hunt bandits. The best thing though is that blocks no longer consume CPU in regards to you're builds. Once you have you're basic, improved, and advanced cpu's, then you hunt drones and make Aux cpu's, then it's on to quantum cpu's. As I said, it's not that it's slower, it's that there is just so much more to do.

I recommend Reforges Eden, amazing gameplay that does not end, and there is so much to do and see. Best game I have ever played. Developer (and scenario builder) continues to improve with regular updates and additional content.

Hello Kage, Reforged Eden is not slow in my opinion. You just have to be more careful with what you do, because the enemies are not to be trifled with. The quest system is huge and you should definitely read the descriptions properly, including those of the items. It might feel slow, of course, but it's more related to habit, how often you do one quest or another. I highly recommend it, but keep in mind that the vehicles and CPU system is also different. For that you get all against boredom in the game, a huge arsenal of weapons to explore or earn exploration and total thrill in POIs. As for dying, you should definitely keep your belt ;-)

When it comes to reforged eden, There's plenty of things you can do in the config files so it won't feel as slow. There's no shame in changing a few things to make it suitable for a let's play.

@@bill_and_amanda ahh the classic "i did some grinding off screen" Yeah, as long as you show the process to get something at lesst once, no shame in doing some "grinding off screen" to collect the rest (within reason of course. Starting a vid with suddenly having 2m iron ingots may be a bit much)

Reforged Eden repaces the early game but I don't think it's slower. It is harder but not in a bad way, just better AI and such. And for that, you get tons of badass new weapons and mechanics, even some new block models, plus tons of new side missions, much better POIs, better trading, and extra factions. Also did you know you have your own POI now? It's called the "K848 Outpost" or "K848 Station" or something.

Kage, upstairs on the same level of Sanctuary base where you get the Burial Chamber mission from the guy is an area with a cargo box and 3 small constructors that you can access and not loose any rep from the faction. Just take loads of steel plates to store in that box, and you can craft the sniper rifles on site where you sell them, and they pay the power bill :) Never mind, I see you found it now.

When placing things like the concrete blocks under the elevator, look at your structure, press 'N' to open up the structure "debug" menu, then select "Connect to base". This will allow you to place that block that is not directly connected to the rest of the base.

Reforge Eden most likely won't ready for 1.8 for a few days after release. It is slow, we had it on the KageCrew and I watched a smaller KZbinr play it on 1.6 (Spanj) and it took FOREVER for progression to really take place. It was fun to watch because I was new to it. If you can modify Reforge to double gathering rates you may be able to make it viable for a series, but I know he invested several hours to tens of hours for each video, and ONLY did that series for like a month. Tons of good info on his channel regarding Reforge. He's doing a series on 1.7 now I believe

Honestly, the only reason I stopped playing Empyrion in general is the constant bugs, bad AI, and frequent difficulty scaling problems (some enemy bases show low level, and were impossible, vs bases that were high-level and easy to beat, needed better balance)

@Kage848 you say you don't like the slow mods you should try Ascention Unchained scenario then. It incorporates Reforged but makes a lot of changes to game play. It is built for EGS 1.7.9 with the preparation for 1,8 and was released within the last 2 weeks. It give more XP for exploration than the normal game and you have the ability to build, buy or find most items in the game. It also adds in a skill set component to the game beside the tech tree. The dev has his own Discord and test servers and is approachable and answers questions and resolves issues usually the same day.

Crazy thing is that there's an Easter egg dedicated to Kage in RE. You can just change the settings to be easier. RE is just better all around but it is a lot more challenging.

RE isn't really slow... you just need to do a different strategy than vanilla. So, for example: There is a more filled out trade system with built in mini quests and everything but you also can't build a bunch of sniper rifles to cheese up a bunch of money right away. You can still make early game money but you end up selling a bigger variety of things. RE can also be easier... some starting planets have no enemies or base attacks. You want money? Sell thrusters and deco items to colonists... salvaging that stuff is big bucks. You need more optronics for bigger CPU... but the CPU is more friendly to install...you don't need groups of them... and blocks don't cost CPU...and there are a lot more things the ships can do with the CPU. Salvage beams for SV's....trauma stations and food processors forSV/ HV's... compact shield generators for CV's.... crew reduces CPU costs...tons of extra cores in the end game for more and more upgrades.... etc. All the coolest blueprints are RE blueprints. RE is as if the devs added a night shift team... who doubled the content and tweaked a bunch of stuff most of us wanted tweaked.

Reforged Eden is just too huge for a 20-30 mins series with every single moment recorded. Even Spanj can't do that, his 30-40 mins videos are cutted from many hours of gameplays. If you got time for that post-production i'd love to see what you can bring out of it. Nice to know that selling sniper rifles to Polaris is still the best way to get rich, maybe i'll start again after 1.8 :D
