You can get a strip of lead type plant weight, you can snip a piece off and wrap it loosely around the Rhizome , you can then drop it where ever you want, and move it where ever you want, no glueing or lines involved, in one tank i covered the floor with it this way like a carpet lol. Depending on the piece you can have it even out in the open and just positioned so you dont see the weight or Rhizome etc, you can put the Anubias anywhere you want now. The strips cut with scissors too or even by hand.

I have Ottos in several of my tanks. Essential that you feed them at first with blanced zucchini and a bit of algae wafer to get their conditioning up or they die, I don't see the right type of algae in your aquarium. They are great for eating biofilm and the plaque type soft diatom algae but they have never eaten Black Beard Algae (or hair algae) in my aquariums at all. The only fish that eats that in my experience are Siamese Algae Eaters (NOT Chinese Algae Eaters, those are a menace). They sort it out in no time. They grow much bigger but should be fine in a 55 or any of your larger tanks when you need to move them on. Get yourself a couple of small ones.

Ben, I also had a BBA problem on my anubias and decor in my 125 planted community tank until I went and got 2 siamese algae eaters. Between 2 weeks they disappeared any trace of black beard algae. Otocinclus are great algae eaters but don't touch bba. Just make sure you don't get CHINESE algae eaters because they also don't touch bba and become territorial as they mature

I second that! We did some research and got ourselves a couple of siamese algae eaters (steered away from the chinese ones, we even saw them chasing other fish at the fish shop already!!), they are super cool fish and the BBA is gone, as an interesting note I'll add they don't have swim bladder so when they're not swimming they sink to the bottom of the tank, I guess because of this reason, they love just sitting on top of the plants leaves, using them as a hammock 😂 they're super peaceful fish, they love to swim together, and they love eating BBA, so definitely worth it 🥰

Have you ever used Seachem Flourish?? Works as long term treatment if you dose as per the instructions. If you are willing to pull the plants and want faster results, you can dip them in 100% Excel. Leave in for maybe 1/2 hour. If it works, algae will die quickly - in a few days the algae will be dead. . I have done it and been successful with it.

I use floating plants such as salvinia or duck weed and frogbit to help shade out the lighting for the Anubius and my crypts and java Fern low light aquarium plants, the plus is it also helps keep nitrates in check and provides cover for the fish to feel more secure which helps especially with timid and shy fish species to come out more and not hide so much...hope this tip helps you out...stay fishy my friend's

I could never get Otos's to survive very long. Have Siamese algae eaters (SAE's) in all my planted tanks and zero BBA. BBA was a plague for several years in my anubias tanks. I learned to never do chemical treatment of BBA, to have SAEs and the anubias needs to have proper lighting and nutrients. BBA generally only attacks if something else is wrong and the anubias are not growing properly

I purchased 5 Otos along with an albino bristlenose pleco and a chocolate zebra pleco for my 200 gallon tank about 2 weeks ago hoping to accomplish the same. I have them in a 20 quarantine but it has no algae so I’ve been feeding them zucchini, algae wafers and repashy soilent green. Hopefully they are all eating. Its hard to tell if its the same Oto or they are taking turns. Since Otos are wild caught I’m debating whether to use the Aquarium Co-op quarantine medication method before adding them to the main tank.

Glad you had luck with the Oto's, but mine are downright lazy until I introduce something else that may replace them on the job, then they start acting like they're working. I had 3 Siamese Alge Eaters and they had the BBA gone in less than a day. I recently had to rehome them because as you said they are aggressive and I started losing Cardinal Tetras. Now the Oto's are back to "pretending" to work and the BBA is starting to run rampant again. I think I'll go back to my LFS and get the Snail (I don't remember what kind it was) they showed me that had cleaned the tank there. It was a bit pricey, I think it was $16.99.

Some will depend on what you are stocking. I've used both filters and they work great and easy to service. But if you have long fin fish you could run the fx4 or 5 just fine. You could also run the fx6 in that tank. Me personally I'd run the 6. It gives you an extra basket to work with. For reference, in my 300 I'm running 2 fx6 filters for filtering for years now, and I've added an extra fluval 307 that only has purigen in the baskets in bags of course. Crystal waters.
