You will always seek them out, and once you've caught up, you will leave. Their goal is to get you to spend more time than just catching up. Fast till scanning is usually because there are timed targets set, then incentive is to not be pulled into the office to explain why you didnt hit target. My store did it for a while and we tried to tell them it wasn't good customer service but they didn't care. Eventually they gave up because some staff just refused to do it 😅 So many items per 60 seconds had to be scanned. I was a bit quick sometimes because I'd be on autopilot and had to remind myself to slow down when I noticed items piling up, unless the customer was horrid in which case I activated super fast scan mode lol.

For anyone unsure how to talk to/interact with/move around someone in a wheelchair: you pretty much just act like they're sitting in a regular chair, except that, like with someone who's standing, you maintain some awareness of if they're trying to move to somewhere. Don't get in their space, and do not lean over with your hands propped on your knees like you're talking to a small child. (don't talk to small children like that either, really.)

I wish I could've been in chat for the discussion about wheelchairs and accessibility. I literally worked on a project to design something that would allow for better accessibility/better quality of life and was interviewing one of the wheelchair users that goes to my college. He was called in to consult on things that could be better about the rec center because there were plans for an expansion and he chewed them out for doing all of this after the building was built instead of during the design or even the construction process. Like the absolute rigamarole that people will go through to avoid actually making things ADA compliant because they would have to talk to people with disabilities and then the gaslighting about it is just so annoying. And even beyond that, so many things are designed in a way that has no care for the end user.

They called and said "We got your 'driver brand wheelchair," I was like "No, that's a transport chair," they say "okay, we can get you a power chair," SMH that's twice as much as the chair I want why can't you just get me a chair that I can push, please!
