Yes! I’m about to put in on one and my plan is a vertical/slide down station! So glad you posted

I think you are only considering your own situation when you say it is ridiculous to mount it on a wall, later in the video. I am in a wheelchair for right now and mounting this unit on a stand so it pivots vertically, or at least at an angle,so I can reach it without standing. It will help with dust collection as much of it can fall into a tub below the machine. It also makes it portable since it will be able to roll through a normal width doorway. When I get able to stand again, my mount will be able to swing flat and lock there enabling use like your swing-out legs will allow. I am building a 12" long 90 deg extension on the front to be able to do joinery on the ends of boards. I will also make a torsion box with mdf on the top and bottom to keep the surface flat, not taking a set (bow) as mdf can do. Thanks for posting.

OneFinity makes wall mounts, for the QCW base. And the mounts cause a 10 degree tilt from the will at the bottom.

I like your idea of a fold-down table with collapsible legs. I'm curious if the OneFinity folks have said anything about the unsupported power cable to the router and how they plan to handle that?

Do those stepper motors have sufficient power now that they are crawling vertically, against gravity?
@ArganicWoodwork3 жыл бұрын
They didn't bog down during the cut so I guess so

OneFinity actually make a wall mount for the CNC, to use vertically.

If you had the beam at the top with a power outage would it drop to the bottom under its own weight?

I think not, it takes some force to push it

I like the idea of mounting it on the wall to save shop space and having it fold out to 90 deg with drop down legs. I would however mount the cnc with the y axis running parallel to the wall when it is folded out, so tiling wouldn't be an issue

Consider counterweight eliminating the drag on the ball screw?
@homezero4 жыл бұрын
I was thinking you could use a cantilevered hinge with a gas assist strut as a fancy way of bringing the unit from vertical to horizontal, having the CNC on the outside of the wall and end up flat and on top. With fold out legs underneath. The front would pull out having the back side drop straight down, resting on the hinged cantilever and using the gas assist strut absorbing the weight of the back dropping and raising it back up. Just a thought?

Super space and money saver. I'm planning a 8'H X 4'W but will try a 4'x4' first.

I like this machine and contemplating getting one. In this video around 16:15, the y-axis changes direction and I see the acme rod shift. I would expect a really tight fit would be necessary. Is your machine still doing this action when changing direction?
@ArganicWoodwork4 жыл бұрын
Wade Stewart so I’ve watched it and not sure I understand what your talking about it looks like it’s just doing what it’s supposed to do in order to follow the tool path. I don’t really see any shifting just a motion from changing depth and direction

Ok, so how much shimming are not showing to get the axis that is bolted down perfectly parallel? The table you bolt this thing to is made of wood and can’t possibly be true enough to give the accuracy that I would expect from a CNC. You never mention how it has to be done so I’m just curious in the steps you go thru to insure that accuracy. Thanks

I'm confused, why did you put it on hinges? What's wrong with keeping it vertical against the wall?

nice idea to save space but I wonder how long will the motors last now that they have more gravity to fight being vertical at 60 degrees. I would think the motors would wear our faster when the motion is in an upward direction but it was a good video and if you need space then perfect.
@ArganicWoodwork4 жыл бұрын
It was just for the video and to show off the ball screws. I would recommend making a foldable leg system so that the machine folds up to a flat position.

this is a beta unit, not one of the stock units.
@teaguewhite264 жыл бұрын
@@jeffklawuhn8216 yes I know, but in the video you said to increase to 43" from 41" to account for differences. Based on that info online, it's actually 45 5/8, only mentioned it because I'm sure someone will try this and at 43" they will still fall short. I doubt the 45 5/8 is 100% due to odd size, but it's the info provided by Onefinity so I mentioned it. Wasn't criticism, just thought it needed mentioned. The video was a good video & it helped me because I was thinking about angling the machine as well when mine comes. thought about doing a 30° tilt. I was concerned about weight being excessive & possibly extra unnecessary stress to machine.
@ArganicWoodwork4 жыл бұрын
Yea when I made the video the information was just coming that it would roughly be 2” larger all the way around so that’s why I just stated make it bigger and yes I will put a disclaimer in the description sorry about that. Definitely go by what OneFinity is saying

bugsysiegals lol 😂 preorders already ended and are being shipped next month or this one.
@bugsysiegals4 жыл бұрын
Arganic Woodwork ok good to know I’m not headed to the basement yet. I didn’t see much in terms of specs regarding accuracy and repeatability or rail thickness as some have implied it’s “weak unsupported rail”. I for one am looking forward to the pre-order customers getting their orders and finding out how good the rails are, if they’ll hold up, and how repeatable and accurate the machine is ... would make a great Christmas gift. :)

Looks like a very under engineered design. Just all kinds of wrong. It would be better to build your own for the same money.
@williamdugger55724 жыл бұрын
Nice video. Even with the discount that is a lot to pay for what is essentially a gamble. My biggest issues are the unsupported Y axis rails and the lack of information on the company. How many proprietary parts are there? What if the company doesn't make it? I don't wish to speak of these things but it is well known that small businesses often fail. I see that they have made some other CNC accessories but I don't see much else. This appears to be a really beautiful machine and I am still on the fence. I may have to wait until after November when more people have a chance to use them and post reviews. No offence to you.

William Dugger all legit concerns. People’s ability to take risks vary greatly. I’ve had good luck overall with prebuy but I’ve also walked away empty handed.

I orderered one - sure hope they come through! Really looking forward to it. Check out the video titled "A very non-scientific test of the Onefinity CNCs rigidity." by Myers Woodshop. I'll be interested to see if he has any follow-up videos about it... kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y3fOon2fe5dnkNU

Legit concerns for sure, my biggest issue is lack of info regarding product, but I have received enough to look into several aspects of the concept of the machine. It's based off of buildbotics which is open sourced and has had success. The hollow tubes was a genius idea and from what I have uncovered in researching is stronger than a solid tube in rigidity surprisingly. I also see the potential for many upgrades since they are using what is considered to be open source software.
@ArganicWoodwork4 жыл бұрын
Yea I don’t blame you. I understand it’s a lot to pay for something that you’re not sure of, or can physically touch in a store. My advice is just wait until those who preordered start pumping out reviews, plus they will have the production model I only have the beta model
