Can we use Rubio monocoat for clear resin (not pigmented Opaque) and wood table to get glass finish for resin?and Natural(non glossy finish) for wood?

@@CR-vc2wt Our product will not bond to resin, only with raw wood. Note, however, that some oil may sit in micropores which will result in a tint if using a pigmented color.

@@rubiomonocoatusa If rubio doesn't bond with resin, then why are so many people making epoxy river tables with it? You seem to be conflicting yourself. I really want to know.

I made my river table from Indian Rosewood and sanded to 150 grit per Rubio Monocoat instructions and I was kinda satisfied with the look and then I saw your video and decided to give it a try I resanded the table to 2000 grit and it came out fantastic. I am so glad I redid it, you mention in one of your replies that you have made a video showing how to get the same results by sanding to a lower grit, can you give me a link so I can view it?

Nice video - I want to make a river table - with the river at a high sheen and the wood at a satin. it's a little hard to tell from the video if the wood is satin or semi-gloss?? I've used other products only to get the river coming out a little cloudy - I wet sand to 4000 grit. I really love the satin look of a table. Is this what I would get with the products in your video?? Thanks
@ArganicWoodwork4 жыл бұрын
steve lang yes and the epoxy doesn’t come out cloudy. You will get a little bit of a shine but that’s mostly due to the high grit sanding, but it’s nothing like a gloss of a flood coat finish.

I just finished pouring the epoxy on a Redwood slab river table. This is going to be an outdoor table, covered by a back patio roof. It will see some sun and not much direct rain, though some may splash up on it. Do you happen to know if this product would work well for an outdoor river table?
@xTwisteDx2 жыл бұрын
You theoretically "Should" be able to. It's Oil based so it will repel water, however you'll want to treat it every couple of months. Also, you'll want to make sure you put an extra coat or two just for the sake of safety.

Thanks for the video. That is an awesome look! Want to try this. Flood coating is tough due to dust and contaminants. I couldn't quite pick up on the exact Rubio products to purchase. Is this right? Part A = Natural Oil Finish. (or just 2C oil) Both appear on Rubio website. Part B = Oil plus 2C
@ArganicWoodwork4 жыл бұрын
I posted the link to the exact Rubio product I used in the description. The pure is Part A which is the oil and Part B is the accelerator. I’m glad you found the video helpful.

@@ArganicWoodwork but i thought Rubio will only stick to 150 grit or lower....
@ArganicWoodwork4 жыл бұрын
Rubio was made for the flooring industry and I'm not sure they ever thought it would be used for furniture. The flooring industry has a different standard and you CAN apply it to higher grit, but Rubio doesn't guarantee proper adhesion. That would be why I made the video because although its recommended to go to 120-150 you can go higher and it bond just fine.

Heather Green not really polishing just ensuring an area of even sanding and clarity. I have another video that’s newer on how I use a sanding system that allows me to get the same clarity without going to such a high grit.

Sarah Lo Russo like a floodcoat? The epoxy is already cured and sanded down, then I apply the Rubio and it’s finished. That’s the last step for me

I'm not much of a fan of music in woodworking videos. No matter what you choose, you're going to put off a portion of your viewers plus you have a real problem with balance between music volume and that of narration.
