Awwww, bless your heart. I completely understand what you have gone through. I have been fighting skin cancer since 2012. I have had multiple lesions, squamous and basal cell removed. I also had Mohs surgery and it took several cuts and one long day on a place above my eyebrow. I got alot of sun exposure growing up being a swimmer and doing lots of things outdoors. I wear rash guards to swim in now, every time I swim, and try to wear sunscreen and stay out of the sun as much as possible. You are a very brave young lady and I hope that you never have to experience another surgery. Thank you for telling your story.

I'm glad they caught it before it spread to the bones! Your surgery sounds pretty scary since it was in your head. I was diagnosed with breast cancer last March and I also had to have 2 surgeries because the margins were not clear the first time. Early detection is so important and I'm glad you are sharing that message :)

I wish you the best my friend. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. I have two that will need to be removed soon with Mohs. I had a skin check and biopsy last year of the one on my right shoulder and then this year again because the spot never healed and itched like crazy. Turns out this year it is now cancerous. The one on my chest I noticed this year disappears and reappears and I had it biopsied too. Another cancerous spot. This one I am really concerned about because it is in the middle of two very large scars on my chest and medical batteries. I have been through a lot worse with multiple brain surgeries, etc. and know that they will get taken care of with no problem. Everything will be okay. Hope that you are now free of cancer my friend.

I had a skin check today and have been told it looks like I have Basal Cell Carcinoma on my arm, so the doctor took a biopsy of it. I was in shock as I didn't realise it was anything really. I held off getting a skin check until now. You're very brave to get the surgery done, it is scary, the cancer diagnosis and the treatment is all scary. I'm glad you are okay and got it out. sorry to hear:( I hope you are well. I wouldn’t say it’s not that bad. I’ve had mohs twice now, it’s brutal and barbaric. I have terrible scars on my face. I live now with chronic pain. My freckle size spot spread under my skin like the roots of a tree, up my eye, into my cheek, into my nose and down my mouth. It angers me to hear people say it’s not a big deal, it is! it’s traumatic and an awful experience I was pain shamed too, my dr told me it’s painless and the recovery is nothing. It’s painful!! I had staples and stitches and was told why are u in pain no one sees this as a big deal. omg

I'm sorry you went through that. I was just diagnosed with one on my leg. Not getting surgery for a week or so. It's big, doing it in the dermatologist's office, not doing mohs and not sure what to expect. Reading your comment helped me so much going into this because I have only had people downplaying it to me, like I'm making a big deal out of nothing. I haven't really even told many people because family I've told made me feel like it's not a "bad" cancer so I shouldn't worry! It's cancer!!! That's bad enough for me!

Hello clover bee.....I agree it is traumatic and I too have had one large one removed from the top of my head and this has left me with a painful scar flap along the part line of my hair and now another one is to be removed at the back of my head. I hope your ok

Glad you're ok and thanks for sharing. My fiance went through something similar about 2 years ago. I was so scared but had to be brave for him. I was with him during the procedure and it was cut out from his abdomen.

Wow great results, it's been 6 months for me. Everything is getting better, still got a lot of tightness. The worst pain was the body aches from the anesthesia. Glad it's all working out for you. I know it's hard to talk about. Everyone tells you how good it looks but it still bothers me.

Hi Amanda, Thank you for your story ❤ I've just had my basal cell removed off the top of my head right in the partline. I saw 3 doctors before I was even taken seriously about this dry scaly patch that bleed when I dyed my hair. I had put it down that just a dry patch that was irritated with the hair dye. I couldnt see mine in the mirror so i could only go by photos id taken. After the 3rd doc I asked I to ended up like you, my basal cell ended up being 3cm long and 1cm wide and was cut out doing a flap procedure but I didn't have mohs surgery. I due to go back tomorrow to have my stitches removed and to get my results from pathology to make sure it was all gone....I'm so hoping I don't have to go through more surgery on the same spot and hope they got it all out but I had it for over 3 years so I've got my fingers crossed.

I have just been diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma after putting off talking to my doctor about a mark on my neck that had been itchy. I thought he was going to tell me I was being dramatic so it was a bit of a shock. Your surgeon has done a wonderful job fixing up the mark he made, I couldn't see it at all until you pointed bits out x

I had BCC skin surgery in February on my nose. It's March 16th and I still recovering from the surgery and scar on my forehead where the dermatologist did the skin graft to put in the hole in my nose. My face still doesn't look good and told it takes a long time to heal. Maybe a year. Its been very taxing and taken a toll on me. I pray for better days ahead. It has been a scary and humbling experience.

Have been diagnosed with BCC in May 2018. Got 2 tumors removed. 5 months later got another 2 on my head. Had a surgery. Another 5 months passed - got another 2. Had a surgery yesterday. Kinda terrified of that going on with that tempo for the rest of my life.

Thanks for the video. Oddly I found out last week I have almost identically in the same place. Doing the MOHS too. How large was yours before they operated? I am glad you shared so I have no surprises. I am however worried about it being so close to my hair line. I guess you hadn't dreamed of them cutting to your scalp like that when you walked in the door . Now I can ask about this before I start. Thanks :). ...Did they shave it and was it difficult to grow back,, maintain, wash etc during the healing? Nice to now they have got it all for you though..it's gone! Again thank you for sharing all of this. Also BTW...Was your surgeon a Dermatologist or Plastic Surgeon or did both types work on you? You look great.

It’s ok to cry, it’s quite traumatic especially if you haven’t been subjected to surgeries etc. You’re brave just to put yourself out there for the sake of others. I had squamous cell stage two on top of my head. It was a lot to go through and yes I could feel the blood dripping down and my hair cascading to the floor, I was bald on top! Even at the last of it I could feel stitches tugging on my head. I take an enormous amount of freezing anywhere on my body. It’s a genetic thing I was told. The cuts were deep and the scar runs about 5 inches long. Thankfully my hair covers it, because it’s really lumpy up there. Now, I’m awaiting a biopsy on the side of nose just above my nostril, I’ve been trying to get my doctor to pay attention and it wasn’t until my husband was there did he take it serious. At the cancer clinic the guess is basal cell. I’m used to needles and hospital but it’s still stressful. It’s the unknown it’s been there growing for 3 years. I appreciate your story and your heart felt honesty. Thank you from BC. Canada.

had a bcc in same spot, was knocked out, not a mohs procedure, a straight out removal, and they pulled down the scalp and pulled up the forehead, sooo very TIGHT AND PAINFULL

I just had surgery for squamous cell carcinoma that grew on my upper lip. They had to cut mine out 3 times then reconstruct my upper lip. Thank you for this video.

I went to a dermatologist in the UK and she said it wasn't bcc and did a biopsy to see what it was. She was going to give me steroid cream because she said it was inflammatory. Then I went to have biopsy and that doctor said it was small bcc now I'm in limbo , first doctor said I wouldn't tell you it wasn't if I wasn't sure and even wrote to my GP saying so , I'm scared now , I only left it a few months before going to GP so hope if it is it's easy to get rid of.

For those who went through MOHS surgery: ive heard its a lot to handle. Can someone please ecplain why that is? I feel okay about the diagnosis but so scared for the actual surgery. Mine is on my nose. Any advice please?

I got basic cell carcinoma skin cancer they want me to do radiation I don't know what I'm going to do before all that they did the moses surgery 4 1/2 hours

Basal cell carcinoma is not a real cancer. Previously, it was named ulcus rodens. 1% of cases invade surrounding tissue and I have never seen that in my practice. It is locally invasive. The cells are not typical cancer cells, no malignant features whatsoever. Its an cell overgrowth od basal layer of the skin or originating from hair follicle, it can show mitoses but not malignant ones. Pathologist
