Getting Started: Flipbook Basics (Sketchbook)

If you are looking for some animation software Sketchbook is a really great option. In this video, I'll go through the basic tools that will get you animating quickly.
Animation Exercise:
1) Customize your Sketchbook workspace
2)Create a short 12 frame animation (the simpler the better)

How to set symmetry back to its original position? And how to accurately set it to a position I used at any time before?

I actually don't think there is a button for this. But if you look at the bottom of your screen, when you move it it gives you the exact x and y coordinates. Well at least in the desktop version

when I draw something using a shape tool like a circle then when I draw something that requires the same opacity, size, and texture, I don't know which brush or pen to use. How do I do it?

When you use the shape tool, it uses whatever brush/brush settings you already have selected to make that shape

hmm let me look into that. Are you using the desktop version? and I don't really know any good, free apps. I've heard Callipeg is good, but I think u have to pay for it.

@@fabio_gioffre I think I am. I’ve downloaded it from Microsoft Store. I would download it from a website, but I would usually get viruses and that’s why I use Microsoft store.

Please I need help How do I keep the background fixed on all keyframes.. When I erase the background on the first keyframe, it affects the next keyframe. How do I keep it individual

There should be a layer that is labelled background. That is a fixed layer throughout the whole timeline. Draw all your bg elements on there

@@fabio_gioffre yeah I did that.. but it is possible to copy the background to the next frame becuz when I change anything on frame 1 it also changes on frame 2

@@kingdavidsartstudio7807 So you are looking to change the background as the animation plays? you can paste the background on the midground layer. That will allow you to animate it on each frame.(But you have to paste it on each frame separately) then I guess do all of the character animations on the foreground layer. Not sure if this is making sense.

I think there is an app on the play store. It pretty much works the same way but some features may be limited.

Hi there:) make sure you are on the layer that contains the text. Press the select tool from the tool bar and then hit the delete key. There are two selection options, one that selects the elements on the layer and one that creates an empty selection. Make sure you choose the first one. Hope this helps.

on the timeline, right above the pause and play buttons. There is a drop down menu where you can add the amount of onion skin you want. Hope that helps

ya it does that. you can only extend it a certain number of frames. One of the annoying things about sketchbook.

Sketchbook should still work on a chromebook I think .
