I don't really like this game. I chose Stormworks as I was aflicted by the need to find something where the main focus ain't building spaceships because I lothe this fetish people have to publish these space titles. Space is a Lovecraftian graveyard of civilizations. Plus being able to "design spaceships" ain't gonna get you a job.

amazing start for your first time. few tips... have drill out when exploring for ores, hold " F " key while mining to pick up ores as you mine. dont leave too many ores on ground or they will get cleaned up. if you build a tower up 10 blocks high then place a block on each face, and 1 more on top, you can then place a turbine on each block and get a 5 turbine wind farm. that should perform at max output.(4 parallel with ground ) great work so far, curious to see what you do next : )

Finally, MrNJersey plays Space Engineers. I've been waiting for this. Sadly, I'm late to the show. I see you only have three episodes (and one is hidden), so am thinking you've encountered the typical SE tedium. You can eliminate _all_ of the tedium (such that you get easier access to the meat of the game, which is building and playing around with the builds) by learning these "tricks": - Say /gps in chat (enter) to quickly make a gps point. - Hold F while mining to grab at the same time. - Press Alt + Middle Mouse Button while pointing at a port to stash all resources and components in connected inventories. - Click the little box icon above the right inventory to view all inventories in the same grid (a grid is one station (or one vehicle) of connected blocks). Note that you can enable/disable inventories from showing up in the grid's control panel. - There's a build queue (press G, bottom right). Point on an unfinished building and press Right Mouse Button to add to the queue. - Press Shift + Middle Mouse Button while pointing at a port to add missing components from the build queue to the production queue of the grid you're accessing. - Press Middle Mouse Button while pointing at a port to retrieve any components available required by the build queue. - You've got an ore scanner built into the drill which has a 50 meter range. It only works when you're holding the drill.

As a new player that wants to love this game. I’ll say this, right now you have a wow factor for first jumping in that’s to be sure, but after that in survival it takes a lot of mental effort to continue your worlds, that admin permission button is just too juicy and I never find myself sticking through my survival worlds, what I think the game could definitely benefit from are something like populated stations or platforms or anything randomly generated to add to the environment, new ai for earth like environments to defend against so you feel like the world is actually alive and then a proper pvp mode and this game would be amazing
@ThatMartinGuy772 жыл бұрын
If you have your welder in hand you can right click an unfinished item(refinery,assembler,block, whatever it may be) and it will add the remaining items you need to finish it to your build planner. You can then go to your survival kit or assembler and I believe it's middle mouse button and it will automatically set those remaining items into production. And then when those are done I believe it's shift middle mouse button and it will pull only those resources out automatically
@Archimagus2 жыл бұрын
My biggest advice is to look at the tool tips on the screen. When you have your drill out, or an ore detector it will tell you if any ore is near you. Also, look at the tool tips when you hover over the yellow conveyor access. It will teach you how to use the build planner which is WAY better than trying to remember all the components needed and manually pull them. And don't mine a bunch of stuff and leave it on the ground, the game will only allow 64(by default) floating objects (the chunks of ore) before it starts deleting them.

What I usually would do when starting new server is to make a ship out of drop pod(some small rebuild required) and fly around until I find that perfect spot. Also, I'm not sure atm(haven't played for a while) but imo it is possible to have ore detector on it. So, make a ship, fly around, land where ore and water is, mark all ore veins you find during flight. Important to not settle a base till you are done with searching for all essential ore around. And don't mine till you're grounded ;)

I can't believe that I didn't play Space Engineers before. I really want to play it. I hope that this survival mode thing leads to building space ships. I think its cool that you would build up your space colony from nothing into like having a space port thing were ships can be built. It makes sense that you need infrastructure on the ground of a planet in order to build space ships they don't come out of the thinness of the vacuum of space right.

Survival start is usually grindy until building the first mining vehicle. So, it's better to add cheap robotic arm to the respawn pod (and later to the base) using rotors+pistons and place a drill on it. Alternatively some players convert their pod to mining vehicle by adding wheels and drill.

Dunno if someone has said it yet, but you can use the /gps command for an easy GPS signal. For example "/gps Iron" in chat would save you going into your menu for marking gps.
@chakatfirepaw2 жыл бұрын
I don't know if you've found/been told this yet: Typing "/gps MarkerName" in the game chat, (without the quotes), will create a GPS marker with the name "MarkerName" at your current location. This can be very useful while prospecting for ore or surveying routes for rovers.
@LethalOwl2 жыл бұрын
Not sure if anyone told you yet, but you should add a thumb mouse button to the "use" key, so when you do manual mining you can just hold the thumb button and automatically pick up a lot of the ore as you mine it.

Loved the video @MrNJersey! Can't wait for the next video man! If you need any more information about Space Engineers, there are some KZbinrs that I recommend you watch before you go any further, namely Captain Jack (Leader of Redwood Industries or RWI on his "Colony" series), TheXPGamers, and LastStandGamers, and see all the incredible creations that the community has made since Space Engineers released back in 2013. One thing of note for servers is that the player cap is 64, don't ask me why but that's what I've always seen on any videos of Space Engineers, and As for survival you will eventually be attacked by what are called "Reaver Encounters" or Hostile NPC ships that will try and kill you, as for Space Engineers itself there is no water unless you add mods for it, the most prominent of which is the one by Jakaria. All of this and more you'll find more easily on Captain Jack's Channel, like any of his Past Streams or any videos he's done.

1 year on and I found your series so you might know this by now, There are 3 levels of 'Refineries', Survival kit, Basic Refinery and Refinery. The Survival Kit can only refine Stone and produces Iron, Nickel & Silicon ingots from it. The Basic Refinery can refine Stone, Iron ore, Nickel ore, Silicon ore, Cobalt ore and Magnesium ore. Note, The Basic Refinery produces Iron, Nickel & Silicon from Stone much faster than the Survival kit but - produces less ingots per 1k stone than you get from the Survival Kit which is why most players never collect the Stone once the Basic Refinery is up & running and deposits of ores are discovered. The Refinery can do all the above plus Silver, Gold, Platinum and Uranium ores.

Well first time comment and its not even on your main game, haha. Anyway, if you can get past the learning curve SE is a great game with lots to offer. There are a few must have mods though, things the base game should have done... One of them is "build vision" really its just a QOL mod. Im sure i and many others here could make a list a mile long but, you have the right idea, play the base game and get used to it first. Only thing i would 100% would change before you go any farther is turn off progression, it was an after thought to the game and honestly adds nothing but frustration. Of course thats just my opinion. I know i would love to see you explore space engineers more, it's good to change things up once and a while and as stated, I like anytime new people pick up SE!
