Ya I spent about 5 months over on UOAlive. The playerbase is really awesome. Unfortunately, most people that start there end up somewhere else just due to the staff. Come give InsaneUO a shot though before you get too invested if you want! I'd love to show you around !

Ok thanks for the info on that. I'd like that a lot. Hard to get more than an hour here and there but I'll see if I can get it installed. I'd like to hear more about why this shard makes a good forever home since there are many options. Also curious about the differences in player run shards. Ty for your time

Another shard built to side line the game and give everything to a player, these shards never work as the systems that make the game great are pushed to the side to just give you access via vendor, bag of sending is part of the ant quest, guess since you just sell them, might as well remove the ants, serves no purpose anymore, just like everything else! I rate this as just another player made shard, might as well just get your own copy of ServUO and run around as staff!

Plenty to do, both old content and new. Some still do ant quest and others and sell them cheaper... 100k is priced pretty well you can get it when you start if no one is selling, but more than you'd want to pay. it's not like there's a bunch of extra gold available.

Currently looking for a shard to start over again after an eternity, and lots of freeshards seem to offer ultra fast skillgain so you are gm in no time, a free house, pet, magic weapon and armor,... So I am just like:" Well, if they just hand me everything, where is my journey, my progression, my goals?" If I just want everything instantly, I would just do it like op suggested, create my own shard an run around as a gm. Yeah, I guess.

Prices seem steep until you realize that you can solo champs and get 250k gold per champ, then the prices are more understandable. Recommended Items for all new Players: Bag of sending comes with 3 charges. 100,000 gold Translocation Powder for 100 charges. 100,000 gold Rune Box: Allows you to hold lots of runes and only weighs 5 stone no matter how many runes you have in it. 1,000,000 gold Insanity Scroll Archive: Hold and combine scrolls, holds primers and more as covered on the first video. 1,225,000 on vendor search. Inside the Luna bank, follow the path leading west the the first house and that will be "House of the Nooblets Samurai". This player has free armor, vendors and sells newbie packs for 999 gold. This pack will help get your toon up and ready to rock and roll. Temp House will help you has much as they can, they can use donations any time you have extra to give back to the community. All donations are strictly for and given to new players only. Temp House frequently uses Voice and Video share to help new/returning players get caught up and or trained with Today's UO.

Good info, thanks! I just started today, can you recommend some areas to farm gold/items for newer players? I assume the newbie dungeon, but is there anywhere else that would be a good start? Think, a person with 100 of a fighting skill, but no good items yet.

@@teamhex Any and all dungeons are money area's. Your toon will not be severely weakened like on some shards. IE: UOA.

I heard UO Alive was crumbling because of their server owner being a legitimately crazy person that has been institutionalized, and some people recommended InsaneUO instead. Unfortunately I see this is a PVE server, just like UO Alive. Why do these even exist? UO at it's core is a full PVP game, where PVP is forced, and not optional. If you didn't want PVP, that is what EverQuest and Asheron's Call was for, since UO was developed with PVP in mind, EQ/AC for PVE. I mean UO doesn't even have any raids, every piece of content ever released for UO has been soloable, even the Harrower back when he was the hardest thing in the game. This is why the consistently most popular UO server for many years now has been Outlands, where PVP is open and free like it was always meant to be.
