For many organisations- the starters and leavers process involves disabling the AD account, converting the Exchange online mailbox to shared and the removing the license. What impact would this have on any pre-applied labels and retention policies?

Thank you for the question! There would be no impact to any pre-applied labels and retention policies. This answer is the same for inactive mailboxes also.
