5:30 Just watched your video from the paper-making kit😊. It was very clear and you didn’t rush through- which makes it easy to follow. I appreciate the tip of draining the water through the screen before disposing of the pulp in the garbage. I hadn’t thought about that part! Looking forward to trying this out and doing it with my grandkids too!

Ordered your Paper Making Kit on Amazon. It came so wonderfully wrapped. Thank you for the care you take with that, it is truly appreciated. I ordered on a weekend and received on Monday. Your video is excellent. I, also, appreciate your caution about draining down the sink through the screen. I have just finished making my first batch of paper. This was so much easier than a previous kit and method I tried. I plan to use my papers in journals as backgrounds, but they came out so wonderful, I plan to use them as tucks and pockets as well. Thank you Su Jae for the wonderful kit, video, and suggestions.

This is the second paper-making kit I have purchased. Your video is so helpful! I do wish you explained how to put the mold and deckel together. That step is not obvious from the video. That is the only suggestion I have. Thank you!
@sujaepaper241 Жыл бұрын
Hello! I'm glad that you find this video helpful! Also, thank you for your suggestion as I may have overlooked that part. For those who have the same question, you put the mold and deckle together by sandwiching the mesh screen in between the wooden frame deckle and plastic support grid. I hope this helps 😀

For the felt, would it be possible to use old flannel sheets? Would that work?
@sujaepaper2412 жыл бұрын
Hello! Yes, flannel sheets should work. In my experience wool-like and felt-like types work well, and I've seen some other people use cotton too. In my experience, the key is the absorbency of the material. I would avoid sheets that start pilling because that can catch and tear your paper.

I love the screen and base I was just wondering if you would have a 8x10 size coming too?
@sujaepaper241 Жыл бұрын
I don't have an 8 x 10, but I have an A4 (8.3 x 11.7in) size to launch hopefully by November.

What blender did you use? I see that food blenders are not recommended in this video? Why is that (I already have one so that would be one less thing to buy, if possible)?
@sujaepaper2414 ай бұрын
Any blender is fine. You just don't want to use the same blender you use for food. Using a separate blender from food prevents you from mixing your food with paper. So if you already have one, make sure it is something you were planning to throw away or keep using for art purposes only. Hope that clarifies!
@phillippia4 ай бұрын
@@sujaepaper241yes. Thank you. I was going to use it as a dedicated blender for art but I misunderstood and thought you meant food type blenders were not appropriate to use. This clears it up! Thank you!😊

I bought the kit - i know 1/3 of paper to 2/3 of water. Is for example 1 cup packed papper to 2 cups of water?
@sujaepaper241 Жыл бұрын
It is good that you are measuring your amount because that can help with the consistency of the thickness of your papers. The more water and less pulp means thinner paper, and the less water and more pulp means thicker paper. I recommend to just put enough water in your vat to put in your mold and deckle to swish around with. The amount of paper to water ratio depends on how thick you want your papers to be. Hope that helps.

Im going to make paper to act as the background for lil prints of my photography! so excited to do this! i wanted to ask, ive seen most other tutorials that include soaking the cut paper bits overnight, is that better for the papers texture or does it not make a difference?
@sujaepaper241 Жыл бұрын
Great question! So if you soak your cut paper overnight before any process, they will break down easier once you put them in the blender later, so the paper will be smoother. Some papers you may try to recycle are thicker, like boxes, and it is just easier to process after soaking those overnight. Good luck with your prints. They sound very cool! Hope I helped with your question :)

Are you using just cheap acrylic craft felt or wool felt?
@sujaepaper241 Жыл бұрын
I used a polyester felt, and they are included with the kit on Amazon. They are reusable with good care. They work great in the couching process and separating the wet papers. They are valuable additions to the kit. I feel like some of the really cheap craft felt has some rough texture that gets tangled and caught with the fibers on the wet paper. I felt that smoother wool or wool-like works better.
@mommymint Жыл бұрын
Yes I was thinking the same. My wool felt is nice and smooth with a decent thickness. I did order the kit Wednesday night. I will order some more couching material. Can we order more confetti? Or what should I use to make my own? I am a paper crafter. I hav Elle the of cardstock and colored papers.
@sujaepaper241 Жыл бұрын
I only sell as a kit for now. For any other extra supplies, you would have to find somewhere else. There's a lot of confetti on Amazon as well as other decorative elements. And yes, you can use your colored papers and card stocks to remake/redesign your papers. Mixing two colored papers together turns out very cool. Hope that helps :)

How long does it take to dry?
@sujaepaper2412 жыл бұрын
It depends on your environment and the thickness of your paper. For air drying, typically it can take 1/2~1 day on a dry to normal days, but in humid days it can take longer.

Why only non-glossy paper?
@sujaepaper2412 жыл бұрын
That is because glossy papers have additives or coating, so it is harder to break down.
@jeannamalcuit43942 жыл бұрын
Oh okay. Maybe that's why my hand mixer that I only used once started to SMOKE! Because I didn't separate glossy from non-glossy *oops*
@sujaepaper2412 жыл бұрын
@@jeannamalcuit4394 Yes. Also, try not to overstuff the pulp into the mixer. It can get stuck in the blades, causing the burnt smell.
