The newest version of DxO PureRAW is out in the form of PureRAW 4. There are some really nice updates to workflow, and to the denoise/demosiac process under the hood. Bringing the next generation of DeepPrime XD2 to us all. and improving the lens softness correction.

Thank you for a very helpful video. I just bought PureRAW and am very impressed by what it can do even with very high ISO images. One question: does the software sharpen as well as remove noise. In other words, do you feel the need to sharpen processed images in some way? I’m asking in general and not just high ISO images.

Hi there, yes there is a feature to sharpen as well if you have a look at the settings. It is on by default to my memory... but there are some different levels of sharpening you can use depending on the image. If you will need more than that will depend on your preference and the specific image. I often don't personally, but that is just my preference.

Let's hope Xd2 is promptly, and, of course, without any additional purchase, integrated into PL7 Elite

To my memory, history would suggest we will have to wait for PL 8 to get these new bits. But you never know...

Great software, and I bought it. But it doesn't always boot up.

I am new to DxO software (testing PureRAW and Photolab), so I am glad I found your channel! Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience! I read that all features of PureRAW are incorporated into Photolab. After looking through all the palettes I found them, but I have no idea what to do in the "lens sharpness" palette in Photolab. How do I achieve PureRAW's "lens softness" (soft, standard, strong, hard) corrections in Photolab? What do I do with the settings in order to achieve the same results?

There isn't currently an equivalent as PureRAW 4 just introduced some new pieces that have not come to Photolab yet. That said, in Photolab you have sliders (global and detail) that you can play with to soften and/or intensify the sharpening result. There are some under the hood updates to lens softness on PR4 though that won't likely roll into PL until version 8 (my guess). We are about 6-7 months off the newest bits rolling into Photolab if history is to be repeated.

Is it compatible with Sony a7IV and a7s Mark I ?

Not sure. There should be a compatibility list on the DxO website... I have not really looked at the newest cameras. You could also try the Demo too and see how you go.

What is the point of owning Pure Raw, as well as Photolab, when you can export as DNG, "denoise and optical corrections only", from Photolab?

I think, as far as I can remember, I did say in an early part of the video that there isn't much point for Photolab users to have this and that I use it for my use case of large events where I take 2000 images and I actively don't want to look at the images before they have a little automatic work done with PureRAW then Radiant Photo - then I look and cull. Otherwise I can spend hours just poking through the images. Hope that makes sense. But I agree with you. PureRAW is primarily for people who use other editing applications... but want to get the power of DxO's processing.
