Pick up your own Standard 4x5 2.0 at standardcameras.com
If you're considering a Standard 4x5 2.0 or you have just purchased one, this video will go over some of the basic functions and features of the camera. I hope that one more opportunity to see the camera beyond some photos on the website might help inspire confidence in your purchase!
In the video I go over some basic considerations when deciding how to transport your 4x5 and two options I use frequently. Then I talk about setting up the 4x5 for the first time; in other words this is more or less the procedure I use when moving my 4x5 to and from my camera bag. I quickly cover attaching your lens & lensboard to the camera with the clip on the Front Standard. From there, I talk about focusing with The Standard 4x5. Focusing on this camera feels a little funny to some folks, because there is no geared rack or anything like that. However, that is in part how we are able to keep the cost of the camera down. It also does not inhibit most folks' ability to focus according to our current customers! Next, I cover how to switch between Portrait and Landscape orientation with the Rear Standard, and show what loading a film holder looks like with this camera. Lastly, I show off the Graflok clips on The Standard 4x5, and also show how to attach and remove the Ground Glass frame to access the Graflok back features.

How did I come to make and sell these 4x5s? Well:
The Standard 4×5 initially began as a personal project. In 2014, I was uncertain if I would be able to afford my own 4×5 camera and equipment upon graduation. Through the remainder of my time in undergrad, I began 3D printing parts for a homemade 4×5. My professors and colleagues took interest in the work, which lead me to grow that first homemade camera into what is now Standard Cameras. By utilizing 3D printing, I am able to design parts quickly and cheaply without sacrificing quality. In addition, The Standard 4×5 is available as a download, allowing folks with 3D printer access to build their own from scratch.

No joke - I was literally just talking about your camera. Have you tried asking Matt Marrash to check it out? He dropped an Intrepid review recently that was super informative. It would be nice to see long term user review.

@@drew_nikonowicz have you thought of a 5x7 or 8x10 version?

Many times! And to be honest I just don't think it's something I'm interested in pursuing. Too many other projects to pursue, and moving up from 4x5 feels too cost prohibitive for me. Especially as a two-person business. haha I commend anyone who is developing larger format cameras though - the labor involved is significant!

@@drew_nikonowicz Okay, no worries. I can definitely understand that. Cost keeps me from grabbing the nearest 8x10 too.
