For whatever the reason it seems difficult to me to be able to get on the platform and just play with it on your own until you learn how it works. Were I running Charles Schwab I would have a Think of Swim channel that was in no way connected with the market since apparently they are so terrified that some unauthorized person is going to use it for an illegal purpose then just make it where it would be impossible to do so!

@@JohntheNobleSavage Yes I signed up to Charles Schwab which has given me free access to the paper mode on Thinkorswim, and in return all you have to put up with is the occasional email reminding you that your account is ready to fund. 🤣 Like yes I know it is but if I don’t know how to trade paper how am I to go and put real money on the line? 😅🤣🙌

excellent video. I am a Schwab client and now poking around in paper money to get acquainted with TOS before cutting over from SSE. Quick Q, I am setting up a base chart with my studies here - if I save it on the PM part of the platform, will it be available to me once I go live? Or will I have to create it again? A migrate option maybe? Thx

Because paperMoney and your live account are two separate databases, it doesn't come over on the conversion. However, if you have set up several things in your paperMoney account when you are ready to start building the look/feel of your live account, go to Settings (gear upper left)/Save Workspace and give it a name you'll remember. It could even be the date. Then share that workspace (from the Setup menu). It will create a URL that will flash in the top center of your screen and copy to your computer's short term memory. Paste that URL into a document in case you can't do this next step immediately. Open your live side thinkorswim and go to the Setup Gear (upper left)/Open shared Item. Paste in the url and it will have kept some of the settings you had in paper but not all of them. Someone supporting the platform could give you a better idea which items are saved in workspace. You can click on Support (upper left) to start that conversation. ^CH

One thing, the gear on the top ribbon for me is on the right, and has a "save workspace as" menu item (fourth down)...this must be the option? maybe I have some other version of PM to have the gear on the right? How can I display all of my positions of stock and options on a chart like you used to do by default in Schwab charts? I can see how to display orders in real time, but I cannot find where to click to show my positions on a chart. Schwab used to show each options position (short and longs) and all stock positions on a chart. Surely TOS has that, but I cannot find how to set it up. Love to get some help. thanks so much in advance, love these videos

Thank you for reaching out. thinkorswim can show orders and positions on charts. To enable it, click on the gear icon above the chart, it will bring up a pop up window with "General" selected. Look for the heading "Content", under that heading you will need to check the box next to "Show trades" and/or "Show orders" depending on what you want to add. @@iamric23 I trade options and find this new platform confusing. Where are the bid/ask prices by exchange, as we had in SSE ? I'm also considering migrating to another broker who has SSE.

How can I add multiple symbols on one chart to compare charts on one screen?

Thanks for the question. There are a few ways this can be done. One way is to click on the beaker icon above the chart, on the pop up window that appears scroll down to "Comparison", s you click on it, it will add it to the studies area and you can then change it to the symbol to what you want to compare. You can add multiple symbols by repeating the steps of clicking on "Comparison". Can you guys change the setting so alerts can trigger during premarket!!? and add halt levels

Alerts will work in the premarket and postmarket depending on the nature of the alert - in thinkorswim 'last' and 'net change' do not update in the pre or post market, but bid, ask and mark do. You'll have to engineer your alert to be compatible in this way, and some things (alerts based off of study conditions) do not trigger alerts at all in the extended sessions, so you also would need to go into the application settings and be sure to check the boxes allowing the platform to send sms after U.S. market hours. Otherwise it will queue triggered alerts in the pre and postmarket and send them en masse when the market opens. ^MF

The charts are really boring. Any time you change timeframes you need to set the time axis area expansion. It would be great if you make your charts flexible like that of tradingview

You shouldn't need to reset the time expansion after time frame change. If on the other hand you are changing styles or study sets, whatever the time frame was when you created it or last saved over that name, charts will keep the time frame saved with. ^CH

I was forced to move to the Think or Swim platform - and after persevering for a couple of month this platform is still terrible. SSE was head and shoulders better than this. Typical management decision to get rid of the good and keep the bad. Time to move my account.

Same. I am leaving Schwab since my SSE access ends next month. I only pay about half the normal options fee due to how much commission I pay. They have lost a customer since ToS is just atrocious.

great system for nerds who love to spend hours fine tuning and getting lost in minutia. Very, very poor system for those wanting simple, self explanatory set ups that are easy and fast to implement and just as accurate

If the TOS operation is anything like the TDAmeritrade/Schwab integration then run for cover. The Schwab C-suite wants you to believe a smooth transition for the TD customers was a top priority. NOTHING could be further from the truth. It is hard to find a company, particularly on Wall Street, that places ethics and honesty above profit. Having used the TOS platform from before TD got ahold of it, I am now leaving Schwab for the second time. The company is not to be trused.
