Getting Tattooed by 102 Year Old WHANG-OD, headhunter tattoo artist, Philippines

First vlog of 2 of our trip to Buscalan, Kalinga for a tattoo from legendary Apo Whang-Od. Unfortunately we weren't able to get it from her the first 2 days cos she wasn't feeling well. But we all got tattoos from her 2 apprentices: Elyang and Grace.

I got tattooed there by whang-od last January. So much has changed when it comes to the roads, it's mostly cemented now except for the point where you go down the slope and start trekking. Going up is mostly cemented too. We stayed at the same house you were in which is owned by whang-od's relative. Definitely will visit again next vacation, hopefully i'll be able to tour around buscalan.

About the "finish your food, no single rice on your plate" tales, ours was based on true to life accounts. My dad used to tell us, when he was young he used to plow the fields before walking miles just to attend school. He said life was so hard back then they cannot afford to waste a single grain. I know they're true as some of his siblings children up to this time still farm and plant rice the traditional way. I always tell my children about my dad's story on our dinner table and I vow to keep reminding them about it whenever it's necessary.
