My SM57 has been sitting around collecting dust since I purchased this mic 7 years ago. It sounds amazing!

Picked up one of these a couple years ago, ended up getting the best tones I've recorded to date out of my AC15 with it. On a stand, positioned at the edge of the dust cap, just the right amount of sizzle and midrange bit to go with a nice, round low end that isn't too thick. I ran it with the presence switch up, which worked out really well for me. Definitely want to get more of these for live work!

Sounds fantastic as a snare side mic with the presence boost switched on.

For me it is always either the e906 or the Blue Hummingbird under the snare. Both sound great there and they're each uniquely shaped to be perfect for that task.

Thanks for the tip about the treble boost for metal and detuned guitars. Really cuts through the mix now!

I use a guitar wireless system so the first time I soundchecked with one of these mics I walked out the front to listen to my guitar through the PA. I couldn't tell the difference between the stage sound and the front of house sound, unlike the SM57, which tends to scoop out the mids and put it's own sound on things. Goodbye SM57, hello e906!

I’m considering buying this mic but I like using minimal EQ in my playing. It seems really good for the money. I have an sm57 but it is too upper-mid based. The E906 seems good too so I’m not sure.

I use these as my rack toms and floor toms mics, its the best use i think in a drum micking situation.

What's it like on vocals?
@sweetwater4 жыл бұрын
Hey, Music IsLife. The e 906 is really meant to be an instrument microphone. It is great on guitars and toms in my experiences with them. I have personally tried them as a vocal mic. Because of the way the mic picks up, and the eq that it naturally has, it wasn't the best for using that way. I would really recommend only using it on instruments. Let me know if there is anything else I can do. Thanks, Grant Embury, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1647, grant_embury@Sweetwater.com

What’s the difference between this and the 609? Just the switch?
@DaveMcCall4 жыл бұрын
Same shape, but completely different inside. To me the e609 seems designed to hit a price point. The e906 is clearly better sounding and the one you really want.
@graxjpg4 жыл бұрын
Dave McCall well that stinks, considering the price point was perfectly suited to my nonexistent budget lol. It beats aiming an old peavy 58 aimed at the floor in front of the amp!
@DaveMcCall4 жыл бұрын
@@graxjpg It would definitely be better than that!

Hey, Grant. Thank you for checking us out on KZbin. I have personally owned and have used these mics many times myself. They are very versatile and easy to use. The major differences between the mics are as follows. 609 - Presence boost to help guitar tones 906 - Brightness Roll of Switch, Flatter response, more detail and articulation, Wider Frequency response. In recap, the 906 is just a little more detail oriented and refined. The 609 is really designed to really focus and work to boost the presence on your guitar. If there is anything else I can help with, let me know. Thanks, Grant Embury, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1647, Grant_embury@Sweetwater.com

can this be used for podcasts?
@sweetwater3 жыл бұрын
Hey, Shivam. Thank you for checking out our video. Technically you could use this mic for anything. I would not use it for vocal, though. It is really designed to be an instrument microphone. I would personally recommend you go with something more like the PodMic or an E835. There are some really great mics for pod casting on the market, reach out and we can help you get the one that is right for you. Will this mic still work properly if I ran it xlr to Jack ? I'm trying to A/B it with an acoustic rig for a live setup (small club gig) but only have one channel left on the desk hence the fact I'd like to be able to switch from acoustic to electric via AB selector. Just wondering if an XLR out from the mic to a jack into the ab box will change the properties of the mic or whether it will work at all? Any info at all would be a help thanks.
@TempoDrift14802 жыл бұрын
No, you won't want to do that. The impedence is different between XLR and 1/4 inch. If you are trying to run an outfit with a mic like this you are gonna need to get you a mixer with XLR inputs.

How is is E 906 on recording acoustic guitar as part of stereo with the other mic bring a condenser Audio Technica AT4033A? Anyone here who has used E906 to record acoustic guitars?
@thomasrose77134 жыл бұрын
Not so good This mic is awesomw with high sound pressure ( amp cabs/ drums ) unless you are playing RAmones style on acoustic I would look at something more apropos
@tlkshowhst4 жыл бұрын
Agreed. It's not that great with acoustic guitars.

This is not my best video, but I used the E906, there is a raw stereo clip where you can hear the sound. I found it surprisingly good without much effort being put into the recording, I just threw this video together when I first started doing youtube videos. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pH6XmXV7eLp7pc0
