Anyone have ideas on what to use like either a oil or varnish to brighten up the drift wood pieces? But won’t harm the air plants

With submersion of my air plants, I have read 30 minutes once a week to 5-12 hours once a week, can you help tell me the time to soak that is most desirable? I cannot mist 2-3 times a week due to my being gone for work at times. I also soak in fresh water fish tank water, they seem to like that. Thank you for clarification.
