Nice video. I’ve been living and working here for a while now, and my tip would be, although I now have an ABA account, when you arrive, change your money into riel. You don’t have to worry about it being damaged. $100 bills can be a pain in the ass to spend too.

Agreed! I hear that smaller bills in USD are in much less circulation and there's more of a push than there used to be to use riel as well. I once was given a $10 bill in change that was torn in half and taped back together and I may as well have been given a drawing of money.

Well thought out. I like the aisle seat also, get up and walk or stand. I think Clair and Jeremy had the airport at 43km from town. Air Asia has been reliable, efficient and cheap for flights is this region. Happy travels

Great tips for getting to Cambodia. When I came here in 2018 I used several sites to get the best airline price. After I got some quotes, I bought my ticket directly from the airline's website because it was almost $400 cheaper than the aggregate sites. I don't know if that would still work but something to think about. Anyway, these are some great tips here and if you follow them you should be alright!

Thanks! Airfare has become anything but straightforward these days.

So we should use a vpn while searching in order to not get gringo priced?

Hey Bill, is Google flights about the same as skyscanner? And how can I searched for flights incognito? And as me coming from the Netherlands what do you mean by " international hubs". From Amsterdam to, let's say, Frankfurt or so? What is a luggage eye tag?
@cambodiyeah1 Жыл бұрын
Google Flights uses the ITA system, which is what travel agents use. Skyscanner scours different sites for deals but includes a few sketchy airlines. Most browsers have an option in the settings for an incognito or private browsing window to be opened. Search google for private window for the browser that you use to find out how to open it. International hubs are airports that are major hubs for international flights. For any country you can search for international hubs. For Netherlands its Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. An iTag is an Apple tracking device that you can put in or on something to track it remotely. There are non-Apple versions of these as well.

Can I ask if you’re on insulin? Is it difficult to get in Cambodia?

I was last time I was there. I did find some, but it's the cloudy/milky kind. You may have to shop around. I'd ask around a bit more, as unfortunately I wasn't there long enough to find a reliable source.

I never check bags. One cross body sling bag, 3 litres, and one convertible small backpack, 21 litres is all I take. Carry on, and toss my backpack in the overhead. Keep my cross body sling on me. I love Cambodia and Thailand. Spent a total of six months over there during two trips from Canada. Going back in 2024 to stay and live there. Going to be an expat. Love Buddhism. Carry on only. Minimalist travel. Namo Buddhaya. 🙏🏼 ☸️ 🌴 🌴 🌴 🙂

When I'm traveling, I go pretty light too. A daypack and a little crossbody bag. Since I'm moving, I'm having to check a bag as there are a couple things I need that I don't want to ship. I hope expat life treats you well!

I just looked up what he's looking like these days, and it sucks, but you're right, lol! I'm just glad I don't share his...proclivities. Should've served his full sentence.

You need to leave Cambodia and go to the Philippines. 10X better

I'm always open to checking places out. In what ways is it better?

Personally prefer Siam culture to Philippines culture. Siam culture is Asian where as Philippines culture is louder. Food is ok but Cambodian food has more to offer too. Having said that. If you like utterly bizarre irony and chaos Manila is the place to be😊

Siem Reap vs. Manila - no comparison Siem Reap is safer, cheaper, cleaner, historical, better VISA, less chaotic, better Tuk Tuk, better food, more activities, easier to travel in neighboring countries …

@@wneighbor2523 yep you summed it up. Philippines people, although have diverse population and objections to the rule, is a very different culture to the other SE Asian countries. I went there in 2003, I think I came close to being kidnapped, the food is ok but a bit bland. Something that really got to me was gossip and nosy people happy to stop and star over your shoulder at an Internet cafe (back in the day). Definitely a must see but I think the frustration component that is experienced in Asian countries is just that must higher their.
