That’s a great rig ! You’re getting a great fleet of great Chevrolet trucks, and both with 292 engines! American Iron all the way! Good luck on getting him Squared Away! Thanks for the videos.

if you are not going to touch the engine , i do recommend that you do the old school ATF fluid flush to dissolve and flush out the old oil and built up sludge inside the engine from the years of using dinosaur oil in that engine

I've never done this trick.

@@SquaredAwayGarage i did not know about it either until a retired mechanic informed me of it

so here is what you do , purchase several cheap oil filters and 1 high quality oil filter , purchase 5 four quart jugs of a good quality high detergent ATF fluid . place transmission in neutral , apply parking brake ( if it still functions ) or chock 1 wheel , place fan in front of radiator , turn on high , drain present dinosaur oil out of oil pan , replace plug , disconnect both the PCV valve and oil fill cap , keep them off ( cylinder pressure blow by must be allowed to escape crankcase without issue ) pour in 2 1/2 jugs of ATF fluid ( you fill up oil pan past limit ) start engine , let it run , sit in cab and monitor both coolant temperature and oil pressure light , watch until oil light flickers , shut down engine , replace plugged oil filter with a new one , restart engine , basically you are letting engine run until the oil light no longer flickers ( watching tempertaure gauge to ensure engine does not overheat ( dinosaur oil sludge builds up and causes the piston rings to jam in the compressed position , the fluid flush dislodges the sludge and allows the piston rings to freely float in the pistons ( thus sealing the cylinders and increases cylinder pressure and decreases blow by cleans out all of the sludge build up in the oil passages , cleans out the oil pump , and and dissolves the sludge in the oil pan , did it to my I6 cj7 engine worked great ,

I don't think I've got the courage to try this. Sounds like the whole time you're going through this process, you're on the edge of disaster.

@@SquaredAwayGarage it is your vehicle your choice , but this process worked tremendously well on the cj7`s 258 inline 6 cylinder engine , i got a second opinion from another old school mechanic , he recommended it , as he used to do this very process on various vehicles once a week according to him , the old dinosaur oil had zero detergents in it , that why this process was widely used , that is why i had to use 10 quarts , so the sludge was dissolved / dislodged did not dilute ATF fluid while it was cleaning the inside engine

I understand your reasoning as far as why you're using ATF.

C20 and c30 used that type of rear cab mounts from the factory

those trucks up until 1988 were purposely overbuilt , that is a 1 ton C20 pickup , you hit the jackpot with that C20 , just to inform you that you do not need to swap out the front , there is a front disc brake conversion kit for those years of C10`s and C20`s

I've decided to leave the old truck alone. I'm not planning to change anything unless it stops working. It's to clean and original to modify. I enjoy driving as is!

i almost forgot , under no circumstances should you place a load on the engine at any time during this process , or engine seizure will result, sometimes people mistake a worn out engine because of low cylinder pressure , when in fact it is nothing more than jammed compressed pistons rings that need to be unjammed
