Rascal was my squirrel in 1973. My husband found him on the ground at his parents' farm and brought him home to me in our temporary apartment. He never really domesticated, totally trusted me, and went wild when anyone came to the house. He successfully returned to the wild at my parent's farm. I checked on him and one day he just stayed with his girlfriend in the hickory tree! Happy ending!

When the government comes and takes away a family member and you are powerless to fight for them, what kind of government do you have??? Doesn't sound like the kind of government America was meant to be, a government for the people by the people. Peanut is family, not just some pesky rodent listed in some county code book. Look at what is real not the shoulds and coulds. Peanut was a force that brought about good in the world without kickbacks or strings attached. I dont think the government can say the same for their outreach projects. Peanut was real goodwill not a political wrench. He may be gone but that squirrel has a home in so many hearts, he'll live for a really long time. And you can't touch him there!!! I had a friend who had a racoon. When the racoon turned 8 years old or so, It got nasty and started attacking it owner, so since it weighed 60 pounds, my friend had to put the racoon down.

He was there. Feeding his 70+ rescue horses (whom Peanut's fame helped feed). Could not finish feeding them breakfast, never got to feed them lunch, horses who were rescues which meant many were underweight and needing their groceries. Held outside for five hours while they ransacked his home, only allowed inside to use the bathroom with a police escort.
