I like the idea of Maria's reincarnation into a hedgehog, as if this is the happy ending she deserves. However... It's one of those things that's better off being a fan idea. Because in my opinion, it breaks and negates the entire Shadow path. He had gone through so much, learned to live with this loss, and now it was back in front of him...
