One thing I would love about having my own authority, is having full control over the lanes I choose to run and the schedule/days im willing to run. In a perfect world, I would only want to run Mon-Thurs and keep Fri,Sat,Sun off every week. And still net no less than $2,300/wk after overhead and tax deductions

Yeah that does sound good dont it... but it's not a perfect world so that won't be happening.

Landstar gave you the freedom to choose your own load and own schedule as well. Of course, you get a small procentage as of 100% when you have your own authority, as long as your insurnace and other fixed cost are not too high.

Hi Ryan. New sub here. I enjoy your videos and I have a question. What is the advantage of being a carrier/broker, as opposed to just a carrier? As a carrier only, can't you deal with direct shippers also? So is being a broker advantageous just because you can use other carriers?
@truckingandfixing2 жыл бұрын
I believe you have to have a broker in the middle for carrier and customer (shipper). We would like to have our own customers, that is why we pursued broker authority as well.

the way they worded when I checked out, make it sounds like that you have to pay another $600 if I filed seperately. Thanks for correcting me!

@@truckingandfixing yeah I barely caught that when I was reading it too. Just so you know they're going to deny your ifta and irp app. because your Authority isn't active yet, but as soon as you go active in 21 days from date of filing Authority the ifta and irp app automatically goes through you won't have to do it over again.

I called progressive about 2 weeks ago, got a pretty decent quote, an outside insurance broker just got back to me with a progressive quote and it was thousands higher than the one I obtained from progressive so I called them back and the first quote I got, tge agent left out some coverages, just letting you know because I'm in the same boat as you, trying to find insurance for new authority, if you find a company your going with please let us know, thanks! Oh the quote from progressive was 19k for the year, 10 year old cdl and squeaky clean driving record and a 25k dollar truck...
@truckingandfixing2 жыл бұрын
I will keep you posted in case I get into the same situation as you. $19k is kinda high.
@chicagotrader42492 жыл бұрын
@@truckingandfixing well after calling progressive for the 3rd time to see why the quote jumped so much, im going to start out hauling power only, for that I only need trailer interchange insurance, not non owned trailer coverage, the non owned trailer coverage is what added almost 1k a month in price, so my quote is back down to 922 a month, not bad at all

So all these fee’s is that one time a year or just one time fee
@joezubrzycki57822 жыл бұрын
Hey Terry..the BOC-3 and MC Authority fees are one time. If you eventually decide to add a new type of authority after you already have one, that's the only way you'd have to pay a fee for that again. Also, avg boc-3 fee without OOIDA is $35. UCR is an annual fee (~$70 if you only have 1 or 2 trucks). Various items in driver qualification file are annual (Clearinghouse query, driver records check, etc) but if you pay more than $100/yr on these, it's too much. Insurance you'll need constantly obviously. Depending on provider, agent, or your financial ability, you may pay insurance monthly, quarterly, or annually. Most states, you'll have to basically file and pay a small fee annually to renew whatever business form you have (if not a sole proprietor)...hope these help!

As it gets more crowded in the USA, 2 million illegals last year, likely close to the same in legal immigrants, plus reproduction, making a buck or living is going to get more aggressive because it is more difficult. So many people in this country now it cannot be managed, supplied, etc.. Laws cannot be enforced. In Virginia, the “lawmakers” propose about 2000 new laws or changes each year to existing laws. Likely close to 1000 are put into law. Really, nobody can sustain that. It’s insanity. First thing is we need to stop all immigration to let all the support, supply, and infrastructure catch up. But that is the last thing “they” will do. It’s all about the cabbage in this country.

Do you know how you can run out of topics for new videos to make. Just before every video put the word new and then the year and then after every video put the year and then the word Update. Example: NEW 2021 Owner operators income Landstar UPDATE NEW 2022 Owner operators income Landstar UPDATE And then so many people will go back and forth your videos to do stuff, to see stuff and compare.
