This is the first time I've seen one of your videos. I am very impressed. Extraordinary presentation. If it's possible to clarify the movements around the Gettysburg battlefield I believe you have managed it. Awesome.

After a visit to the Gettysburg Battlefield this month, it became abundantly clear that Cemetery Hill was the pivotal high ground in the entire battle. More important than Culp's Hill and more important than Little Round Top. If the Confederates take Cemetery Hill and its 40-50 cannon, the entire battle tilts in favor of the South. Rodes failure to fully engage at Cemetery Hill on Day 2 cost the South the Gettysburg battle.

Lee’s main effort on Day 2 was uphill attacks and wasted confederate blood at at least three locations (LRT, Culps Hill, Cemetery Hill) I guess nobody noticed that Lee was in fact a degenerate gambler with other people’s lives, and we’re supposed to believe that all the butternuts thought he was some kind of hero…I don’t see it Longstreet understood from Lee in May, before they set out, that any fighting during their march north onto federal ground would involve defensive tactics(dug in positions on high ground, not 1-mile walking charges across obstructed open ground)…so I suspect that Longstreet was actually pissed off about how it all went down …would love to see a detailed presentation of Lee’s interactions with his Corps commanders over the four days, the corps commanders interaction with each other, what Lee et al had pulled together in the way of casualty reports, what they had drawn up for next-day timetables and battle orders, what’s they had for Union force estimates, and what gaps (who’s commanding Hill’s divisions on Day 3, Hill or Longstreet?) existed between intent and execution

You wrote: "would love to see a detailed presentation of Lee’s interactions with his Corps commanders over the four days, the corps commanders interaction with each other". Ditto.

Ewell's failure to take Cemetery Hill cost the Confederates the Gettysburg Battle. Attacking Culp's Hill was a waste of time and resources. If the Confederates put more emphasis on Cemetery Hill they win day 2 and day 3 and probably win the war. Huge mistake.

It's my understanding that Gen Anderson was in the rear of his division not leading personally. Which may explain why Posey and Mahone didn't continue their part of the en echelon attack. Gen Pender was then severely wounded from cannon shrapnel and his division did not move forward. I think the stoppage of the echelon attack caused an anti domino effect and Pender not going forward prevented Rodes not going forward. Part of this is likely combined with it being late in the day. We also don't know where AP Hill was during this time either

Yes. See the video "Mahone's Brigade at Gettysburg. What Happened". An interesting story.

Thank you for this great presentation. I only wish the map included a scale of miles so I could better judge the distances involved.
