I live 2 hr, 15 minute drive from Gettysburg. I have toured the Battlefield three times. Took the first car tour when cassettes players were "the things" in cars. The best was probably the walking tour I took with the Boy Scouts. I think it was a day, and then a half day the following day. Excellent video sir!! Appreciate the effort!

Now that Sir, is a seriously impressive jacket! Coincidentally was watching the 1993 Gettysburg film the other week. Amazing acting from some excellent actors and shows the horrors and humanities of both sides. Jeff Daniels deserved an Oscar for his portrayal of Joshua Chamberlain of the Union. Great stuff - as always! And you’re speaking my language too - American civil war and John Wayne! Horse Soldiers is one of my all time favorites - even with all of its historical inaccuracies and terrible uniforms/costumes! Meerschaum, briar, cherry and clay pipes were all widely used during that period. Clay pipes - as you might imagine - were easily and cheaply made, sold in bulk and frequently discarded and/or broken during the rigors of campaign and camp life. Cheers!

Excellent video Lester, enjoyed greatly all the added content and character. I toured Gettysburg Battlefield in 1969 with my Dad and Brother, I was only 15 at the time but it had such an impact on the way I viewed America and the tides of war. Thanks for re-stirring those memories of that time period with my Dad. We toured all of the major Civil War Battle fields over a 3 year time period, it was priceless. Also very encouraging on the Tabaco, I'm not of fan of the peach fruity flavoring and plan to try Sherman's March for a casual kick back smoke. @@Pfeifenraucher_der_Insel BTW: My claim for fame is I was in Red River Campaign #1 back in March 1994. A Hardcore event. We were an Army on the March in Medich's Battalion, Wilson Company CSA Infantry marching from Natchitoches Louisiana to Pleasant Hill Louisiana almost 100 miles in six days. As rear guard on the longest March day we marched way more than the 20-25 miles often at the double quick. The first day I was on my feet for 20 hours then walked a beat on guard duty from 4:00am to 6:00am in the mist and fog while it was spitting snow. A quick breakfast then marched our longest March. Hypothermia at night then heat stroke during the day on blistered feet. There has been 3 or 4 of these marches later but I was told #1 was the toughest. Reenacteers today don't know about Reenactment history and never even heard about those events and what it means to see this old man wearing an old Red River Campaign "SURVIVOR" T-shirt at reenactments! Telling stories of the event they just look at you dumbfounded.
