Nice video, I’m definitely going to try that out. I’ve known a saxophonist who used to correct the intonation using l unusual keys position, can you make a video about that? I’m not really sure if it’s a common tecnic or if he just came up with that himself

I certainly tune certain notes with extra fingers. Eg middle E by adding low Bb.

How would you suggest trilling from the staff C to a D? Using the palm D is good, but trilling with the palm key is difficult to be consistent.

Yeh I would just trill with the palm key. You can keep your C finger down though.

Funny that you should mention Rhapsody In Blue- many classical saxophonists have recorded that on alto sax, with the smear (look it up)! It's possible to do portamentos like that throughout the whole range of the instrument. I have more information if you're curious

I have tried it in the past but found that there is only a very small part of the pad movement that affects the sound and seemed too difficult to use in practice. Do pro players really manage to get enough control to use this technique live?

It’s very subtle. I use it in combination with my throat.
