"Geuzenlied" - Dutch Patriotic Song

Another natsoc song, that's why the flag map isn't historically correct, and also why there aren't any historical pictures in the video. It was the anthem of the Dutch SS, and the song alternatively goes under the title "Rοmdiredοm", which has no literal meaning in neither English nor Dutch.

I had two uncle's one in the Dutch ss and one in the resistance both died in the war the ss one went missing (probably died in a gullag) during the russian campaign the other was executed on 19th of november 1942 as one of the 33 of Soesterberg. Thats how divided the dutch people were the resistance fighter was mourned, and the one on the Russian front not. Both died young 26 and 24. Both would loved that song i guess.

In the Netherlands, a Geuzen was a name referring to Dutch Calvinists who opposed Spanish Rule, so this song is stating how the era of rebellion of foreign rule is coming back (ironically while the Netherlands was under German occupation)

Not all the Geuzen were Calvinist. It was primarily an anti Spanish movement, a Dutch movement to be exact. There were a lot of Catholic Geuzen fractions who also fought the Spanish.

But the top part that is connected to the mainland (Noord oost polder) was finished during the occupation. It became a hideout for members of the resistance. The Noord oost-, and Flevo-polder make up the province of Flevoland.

The Geuzen were noblemen who united because they didn't get enough freedom from the Spanish ruler. They were in revolt against this Spanish oppressor. They didn't answer to anyone, there was no governing body to oversee and coordinate what they were doing. Yet, they were so organised amongst themselves that they were able to win a lot of battles and free a lot of towns, thus earning an important place in Dutch history. I don't think comparing these people to the German SS (in the description of the video) is correct.
