Man that looks( and sounds) way better than my ancient E kit. Only my Ride has 2 zones and I just realized it has a choke function this week when I tried to make a backing track for my video today. ( only left in a hint of the ride cause my timing is still 💩) but I’m getting better 👍🏽 and the double kick is coming along ok 😀

Best review of the G9 to date. I am very keen on this module but it is not fully compatible (yet) with my ATV Artist. A couple of questions, some have said the load times between kits are lengthy what say you? Do you have a list of the onboard kits please? Once again great review which has kept my focus on this kit rather than the TD50, Mimic Pro, Drumit 5.

@@ThomannsDrumBash Simon awesome a brush kit would be nice even one you play with sticks. What do you make of the sounds compared to the alessis strike, TD 50 and the Mimic? Some people are suggesting the kit sounds aren’t that good and the internal memory will not allow many additional kits?

@@garrycraig2095 Hi Garry. Well you have 128 GB of internal storage so there's plenty of space to import your own sounds and samples. Maybe there'll be a brush kit available in future software updates or even in the Gewa Cloud Shop. I don't know the Alesis Strike sounds, but i think that you can get amazing sounds out of the G9 when you invest some time at the sound settings. //Simon

Look I haven't seen this kit in person, just on review / promo vids but my assessment is that its build quality is excellent. The touch screen looks great with good UX. But, the sound quality hasn't impressed. As usual its the cymbals that come up short. Would be interested to understand the sensitivity and dynamic of the kit, but it doesn't come across well on these vids?

Hi Daniel. This kit becomes an amazing drumset if you invest the time to adjust especially the velocity curve settings to your playing style. Thanks to the touchscreen UI of the module and the fact that you can create your own individual custom velocity curve for every pad (kick, snare, toms and cymbals). //Simon

I have G9 since 4 months and even after new update the foot splashing on hi-hat is not perfect at all when it comes about jazz style performing. I’m still struggling with this the most. Also the layered sound ( the second sound ) cannot be changed in terms of releasing it which is kinda weird. Well... in any case, in spite of everything, this thing is the best to date IMHO. I’m pretty sure all the issues will be worked out with the times.

Depend on how you see this, gewa is complicated to calibrate, Roland have better playability, easier to use, well know of durability 20 years+, faster latency, gewa limited to 2GB memory 100 instrument import for 2500$USD without proof of durability and issue. Alesis have much better feature and base structure without limitation from import less then half price. The sound on gewa are nothing to impress, they sound all monorail.

Great triggering, great looks, great customization... I only wished they had put real sounds in the module, it breaks my heart to hear it sounding like the usual roland synth/emulation tech crap. At a minimum, G9 should sound like an ATV Ad5 (a 1000$ module, by the way) with enhanced sample layers, or since we're in 2020 it should sound like a Mimic, or Superior Drummer, or at least ONE damn kit inside that module that sounds realistic and authentic instead of that keyboard crap. Even Drumit 3/5 sounds better, a module 10years old. GEWA should at least listen to what EFNote just launched, I mean it's not the world's most full featured e-drum ever made... but they've got real high-quality, 2020 standard, samples in there, and affordable.

the quality and build looks great but honestly the sounds (and I think this the most important aspect of any elec kit) the sounds are terrible, boring flat and sounding like an entry level kit. the only time the kit sounded good was when you triggered EZ drummer, maybe you just spent too much time on the demo showing the features (great demo by the way) and not enough time on the actual kits sounds, but even at the end when you featured your own kit you programed it sounded terrible, I have an old TD30 module I'm triggering an Alesis strike pro kit (don't get me started on that piece of junk I spent $3000 on, it still had better sounds than the Gewa from the small examples I have heard so far, Alesis build quality was maybe a TOY not a pro drum kit as advertised) I would love to see more Video of actual kits programed by different people, so I'm sorry if I'm commenting negative, end of the day it's all about the sound quality whether its a processed kit or a reproduction of a real kit $6300 it should knock my socks off immediately...Like the Mimic pro for example

Jedes Roland TD17 klingt besser! Ich behalte mein Pearl Mimic Pro und mein ATV Kit. Das klingt um Welten besser! Gewa hat am falschen Ende gespart! The part is a complete failure in my ears! The hardware and the user interface make a good impression, but the inner values (memory size and sample quality) do not even match the professional appearance and the high price. All kits sound totally artificial and thin. Every Roland TD17 sounds better! I'm keeping my Pearl Mimic Pro and my ATV kit. That sounds better for worlds! Gewa has saved at the wrong end! The best part of the video is when EZ drummer was triggered😀

Sorry, but this is not state-of-the-art. I get that Thomann wants to sell drumkits, but the truth is that the Gewa is terrible for the price. A mid-tier Roland kit with a laptop/vst-combo will crush the Gewa any day. The hotspotting is tremendous, rimshots are random, the plastic rims protectors (why not rubber?) feels supercheap and are just for a small section of the rim. Also, the module is slow to work with and the sounds are far, far from being a contender to any of the known drum-vst`s. This is so sad because I was so excited about testing this kit. The screen, the vst-idea, pdf-reader and built in wi-fi/online-shop plus the overall looks, seemed very interesting to me. But the test was (like I said) incredibly dissapointing. I tried to fiddle with the module for hours, it just never became any better to play on. It almost seems like they forgot to use a drummer during the development..(!) -For example: How is it possible to ship a kit with total random rimshot-triggering? Its so strange! And the hotspotting on the drums and cymbals are the worst Ive ever tested! -So for you guys interested in this kit because of the looks, stay away! -The playfeel to me is awful and the price is horrible for what you are getting. Greetings from guy with Roland VAD 506/706/SD3 Hansa Rooms. (Much, much closer to being the real "state-of-the-art", btw). Any Jobeky/Alesis/Yamaha trigger will also crush the Gewa ones. Gewa triggers look kinda good, but thats it. Also see e-drum workshops (name of youtubechannel) review on this kit.
