Now Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, each took his censer and put fire in it and laid incense on it and offered unauthorized fire before the LORD, which he had not commanded them. 2 And fire came out from before the LORD and consumed them, and they died before the LORD. 3 Then Moses said to Aaron, “This is what the LORD has said: ‘Among those who are near me I will be sanctified, and before all the people I will be glorified.’ ” And Aaron held his peace.

This is a really important message and point for the church right now. Not every “Christian” song out there is worship. Use wisdom and scripture

There are a lot christian songs that really arnt christian at all if u know the scripture and study it. And some christian song we sing and truely underestimate how much truth is in some of thos songs. But you have to study the bible and listen to the words. Im a truck driver and for the past 2 years everyday for 10+ hours i have listened to ever sermon that john McArthur has had thats 50+ years of theology and i have listened to hundreds of paul washers sermons and Voddie Baucham. These men have changed my life around in 2 years and im 37 and when i walk out in public with my Christian hats and t shirts people look at me like im crazy. But im so blunt about it i dont care what people think. People are on there way to hell and no one seems to care well i do. Because no one has to go there jesus died for everyone that would ever believe on him. Im tearing up just think about it. For the love of god repent of your sins and belive the gospel and get into your bible download a bible app and just listen to it. Yes im still a sinner at the end of the day. But i pray many times a day lord jesus be Merciful to me a sinner!!! That is all i want theres nothing else you can do after that !!!

Not ego at all. I’ve seen too many worship leaders try to give a message during worship service or a prayer and their theology is SO bad they sound like pagans on stage. If worship leaders don’t have enough discipline to read their Bible and come to a clear understanding of what they are supposed to be doing as a worship leader then they shouldn’t have the job.

That beckons a defining of man-centered and God-centered. Many of the Psalms (songs) could be considered man-centered. Should we not sing those? Is testimony not sufficient for musical worship?
@armsracer8273
@armsracer8273 Жыл бұрын
I like the new music we have now. It's like a testimony of who they were before God and how God changed them and gave them hope and then they praise God for all the good things that he has done. I like the new music but I still treasure the old hymns. In fact I like how they use the old hymns in the new songs as a foundation that they build upon. I didn't like the Christian songs of the 90's and 00's and 10's where the people were singing about a faith they hadn't experienced. Asking questions afraid to take it a step further. I love the psalms of David. But I'm still just learning, but it seems to me that it goes like this: Where he is in some distress, pleads his case before God, and God answers and he praises God. If we could bring worship back to that it would improve peoples prayer life immensely. But they have that in the psalms. What I believe is that people need to hear is what we have. The testimonies from people from the lame walking and blind seeing and the deaf hearing and prisoners set free! This is still the year of Jubilee and the Lord is doing great things!

I agree. I don't want to dampen anyone's enthusiasm for God and Jesus but I have heard some of ungodly attempts at mixing worship with current styles of music. Metal being the absolute worst, so far. I recall a fella about my age back in the 80s trying to tell me how great this Christian Heavy Metal band was. He says, no man you don't understand. They love Jesus. They even throw bibles out into the audience. So I asked him which version. Just joking. I had heard a few of the band's songs somewhere, so I asked him if he had ever heard the phrase "Make a joyous noise unto the Lord"? That's where we left it. Some things don't belong in church.

Aaron's sons were barbecued because they offered strange fire before the Lord(Leviticus10:1-3)! It is ONLY by the immeasurable grace of God and the dispensation of the New Covenant in Christ Jesus that false teachers and I dare say even we, ourselves are still breathing! Lest we forget... Hebrews 12:21 And so terrifying was the sight that Moses said, “I am exceedingly afraid and trembling.”) and Hebrews 12:28-29 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. FOR OUR GOD IS A CONSUMING FIRE. 🔥 🙌✝️ 🕊 🔥 The same God who hung on a cross for our sins is the same God who rained fire and brimstone down on Sodom and Gomorrah! How AWESOME AND HOLY IS HE!

Worship- the feeling or expression of reverence and adoration for a deity. "the worship of God" It’s more than singing and dancing. It’s living a life according to His Will and not our own. It’s living for Him and not just twice a week. It’s glorifying Him in everything we do. It’s reverencing Him always. That’s worship!

Don‘t mix up praise with worship. Worship (latria) is for God alone. The first time worship is mentioned, is when Abraham sacrifices Issac. In the first covenant worship involves always an altar, priest and sacrifice. This points towards the Messiah. In the New Covenant the sacrifice is fulfilled in Christ and instituted as the new sacrifice of the body and blood 🩸 of Christ in the order of Melchizedek. The holy Eucharist is the ultimate form of worship. God deserves no lesser sacrifice than the body, blood, soul and divinity of his Son in the holy Eucharist. ❤📿🙏

God doesn't care that Christianity uses renamed pagan sex festivals as a way to honor Jesus? Really? The reason YHVH gave us the feasts is for the authentication of the Messiah. That is what "fulfilling the Law" means. Luke 24:44

I started and got to song of Solomon before skipping over and reading the new testament. I have read enough to understand what he means by reading the whole thing. I wonder how we can be expected to worship Him as He deserves if we don’t have a leader who is completely God grounded in his/her efforts. The worship leader of a church I used to attend was our pastor. We used to sing a lot of praise and worship choruses mixed in with the hymns in our hymn books. These were songs written by people who had really been touched by God in a time of their lives when they were so needy God was all they had. Honest, hard working people who didn’t think twice about Sunday night service, midweek service. And they could pray heaven down. Now you get Sunday morning service which, part of it is a rock concert. I don’t feel connected to God through these songs. I don’t listen to “Christian” radio so I’m not used to them. And I guess the lights have to be off so the singers can read the screen with the words!

I think he’s talking about Nahab and Abihu. They were Arron’s sons and God killed them for “burning strange fire” on the altar at the tent of meeting. The Hebrew word actually means unauthorized fire. We don’t know exactly what they did. Some believe they were drunk when they offered sacrifices on the alter. They may have just failed to follow proper procedures set by Yahweh when doing the sacrifices. That would certainly make the sacrifice unauthorized. Not sure what this man’s point was he tried to make.

I am on track to finish ALL in about 250 days...lol

No, he killed to levitical priests who were likely drunk who offered "strange fire" whatever that means, in a system that was so dangerous that if you weren't the high priest and it wasn't the right day, or you happened to have touched a dead person or your wife just gave birth or whatever, and you went into the holy of holies, you died.. That's like.. A little bit different than a new testament context where the temple veil was torn from top to bottom.

Agreed. I think a good point to pull from this is that worship of a Holy and Righteous God should be reverent and within scriptural parameters. Exceeding what scripture teaches is never acceptable or wise when coming face to face with God.

@@jefferyeubanks9833but that’s subjective. What we have here is yet another criticism based on nothing. Let people worship in the way they discern is best. As the Lord says who are we to tell another persons servant what to do. Washer has good points but he primarily tries to evoke fear into people if they are not groveling every day of their lives. That’s the Calvinist way.

@ taken out of context. Bottom line is that different cultures have different forms of expression. I’ve been to churches that have a band and I’ve been to churches that don’t believe in having a band and prefer just singing. As long as it’s not disrespectful then it’s a non issue. So sure there can be some who are inappropriate but the video snippet is speaking in generalities. And I stand by what I said about Washer, he idolizes his own suffering and that along with some of the views of Calvanism is an issue. They over complicate the gospel by using the easy believism as a straw man whereby they use the worst case scenario to backdoor complications into the gospel. They claim there’s a difference between faith and believing faith which is absurd, there’s only faith or no faith and all faith is weak, it’s the object of our faith that matters and that object is Jesus…plain and simple.

Too much emphasis on music. There's a place but no where in scripture is music take precedence over the word of God. Matter of fact when Paul tells Timothy what church should be about, he never mentions music. 1Tim 4:13 KJV Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.

@@gfbc1689 Thanks for your reply. Yes, the psalms are words to songs. They do not contain the type of music most churches use today. My point was that music was ALWAYS incidental to worshiping God. The scripture emphasis is always God/Jesus and His word. Today it not about God but about feeling good and moving to the beat. That is a wrong way to worship our Savior. BTW, outside the book of Psalms there are less than 300 verses dealing with music out of 31,102 total verses. Do the math. Less than 1%. But music makes up over 50% or more in todays church services.

Interesting... David didn't have access to many of the books. Heck, the death of Uzzah is a perfect example of how little David knew of scripture. Yet he wrote many psalms. He was adulterous. He deleted one of his most loyal men. He did not judge fairly. And yet it will be his fallen tent that God promises to rebuild.

This is such a crude misrepresentation. Nowhere in Leviticus, 10 or anywhere else in the scripture does it mention these two persons with regard to music. The two persons mentioned were Nadab and Abihu- Aaron’s sons who were set apart for the priesthood. It’s an incongruent comparison to a modern day worship leader. Generally lazy exegesis.
