It's similar to how 2EN1 reunited recently for their concerts and rumor of a new album. YG owns the copyright to their name and they probably weren't willing to give it up, so the girls decided to work with them for it. It's a win-win for both sides. And it's tough for groups to own their copyright once they leave their original company. In Jay B's case, he was lucky that JYPE was willing to work with him to move the copyright for GOT7 over to him(and they're making a comeback next month).

Source Music was rejected to trademark the GFRIEND name though .... So the girls can use the GFRIEND name, however they don't own the songs... I think this was the reason they went back to Source for their reunion .....
