When the band started, he was probably the best musician in the band. As the rest of the guys grew musically, Peter regressed due to drug use. Ace was always sloppy, but it was truly his style. No one could ever imitate it. The 4 of them could not have made it in any other line up. The stars aligned and from 1973 to 1978 it was pure magic. Never the greatest musicians, but together, they took over the world for 6 years. I really hope by the end if the road they let Peter and Ace play at least a few songs, IN MAKE UP!!

@HappyMachorino-bd8no
@HappyMachorino-bd8no Жыл бұрын
@@mr.brenman2132 It's not "propaganda". What Paul wrote about Peter is plausible. As drug-addict he had not the discipline with his talent and his social behavior, they needed. Gene said once "I f*cking hate drug-addicts". And Paul said about Tommy: "I love his playing. And I love his WORK ETHIC! "(Paul's mother came from Germany). In another interview: "I don't need anybody to shoot in my head". My (german) teamleader at work usually says: "You don't get paid for your talent. You get paid for WORK!"

Xialong1963 Okay, all of my research says it's real. I guess Ace hadn't fully developed his style at that point. The repeating triplets and slow vibrato bends that so define his sound were not part of his skill set at that point. It was supposedly recorded by Gene Simmons on a two track recording machine in the spring of 1973. It's a Japanese release on Zodiac Records from April of 2014. How they got the tapes is a mystery! Thank you for sharing, as this has been an eye-opening look into KISS' early development. By the way, "Space Invader" is Ace's best album in years. find some samples and enjoy!

This is a testament to the Greatness they had since the early days, "Watchin You" sounds as if they are still writing as they go and it is still amazing with the guitar harmonies and backing vocals, my 1st time ever hearing this right now and I have been a loyal KISS fan since 1978! They were so AWESOME together MAGIC!!!....the Best...1 word......"WOW"

Wow... The songs are as distinctive and iconic as a 70 Barracuda. Don't know where you found this but how cool. Thanks!

Love that someone (probably Paul) plays the riff to “So You Want to Be a Rock n Roll Star” right at the beginning. Little did they know.

Saw them in 75. This is wonderful indeed. One thing you never hear credited is what a good rythm guitarist Paul was. And why oh why are demos often better than the album in rock and roll? Drives me crazy!

Walked past that loft on 23st many times, sober, drunk, stoned. Saw Ace @ the limelight in '86, Gene & Paul joined him onstage, great show!

nycrnr - I'm wayyy late on this post...LOL. Are you sure it was in '86? I had won a VIP pass in '89 to see Ace at The Limelight with Princess Pang and Britny Fox as openers. Gene & Paul were onstage with Ace then.

I just love the cleaner guitars back when the rock distortion came from actually playing the instrument hard!

+Neil Smith Ace Frehley swapped his stock pickups out for a set of DiMarzios not long after this, so that also contributed to a more distorted sound in future Kiss tunes.

Neil Smith LMAO!!! Never heard it QUITE like that.....But to each his own.....I know what you mean though....Eric Clapton in The Cream was GREAT....then he got all "commercial"....and now in what SHOULD be the most creative and productive years of his life, he's dedicated himself to becoming nothing more than a cover band for old blues artists......sad.

This is great.. And whats even more remarkable is the fact that All original members are still alive and doing great. Think about that. Compared to other bands.

I used to live at 14 East 23rd from 2006-2006. It wasn't until months after I moved that I found out Kiss' Loft address. My bedroom studio must've bumped up against the same wall as their rehearsal room.

Of course it's them. You can plainly tell by their playing style. It's pretty obvious to any musician with a good set of ears IMO

Always loved how Ace meshed that kind of pedal steel country (delta blues?) vibe into Kiss songs, more noticeable in early stuff like this. What a treat!

Man, life in the woods is stuck in my head. Original guys have something. It shouldn't add up but it works for me. I am a diehard KISS fan, what Gene and Paul don't understand is that I would pay money to hear the original members making fart noises over hearing a "musically superior" version of KISS.

I'm 46...have been following Kiss, since the Summer of 1978, when I was 5 years old, and got my first Kiss album, Double Platinum, that I played on a Fisher Price record player. I can Guarantee you that this is Genuine. Long Live Ace....A Guitar God. Without Ace, Kiss would have Never made it. Ace was Kiss. His solo album did better than any of his bandmates! He inspired so many people to pick up the guitar, and learn to play, including myself.

And they want to left the stage forever after the "End-Tour"? I can´t believe. My hero´s of the early 70´s. So rough and pure. Best thing I´ve ever heard in the last years. Thanx for posting, man! Listen from 31:10..... unbelievable!

I just listened to another loft rehearsal from another band, recorded 10 years later... 4 guys trying to get it together, just like these 4... they never launched, too many personal/personELL issues, lol.... I was one of those 4 guys in 1983. It's so cool to see we all started the same way doing the same thing in a manhattan loft, so happy THESE 4 guys made it. The background chatter is priceless!!!!!!!

One amazing and Legend group right here. I love Ace and Peter. They are all so good together. It's Paul, Gene, Ace and Peter. We love them and always will. Back in the 70's when you were a teen and you saw them for the first time, they made an impression on you forever. That's how I felt. I've loved them ever since.
