Yes indeed, I did enjoy this. Thank you. I think though, some might wonder, what exactly the tilt does, how it looks like and how to apply.

From my understanding, the tilt adjustment would be used to be able to manipulate the lens to increase the depth of field (where it falls) and shift would be used to control the perspective (appearance of converging lines)

@@kirkstickney7394 Could not have explained it better myself. Tx. But Friedhelf's comment has inspired me to do a segment explaining step by step on how to do it. Thank you.🙏🏻

Enjoyed this video. Thanks.. Schneider Kreutznach still makes a similar lens for Phase One and Leica S. 120mm, not wide angle, useful for tabletop and works well with extension tubes.

For architectural work i use the Nikon 19, Schneider 28 (80% of the time), Hartblei 40, and the Mamiya 75. I also have the Hartblei 120, but don't find much use for it in my line of work. Waiting for Fuji to get in the act.

@@christopherleggettphotography thanks for sharing. we sorely missed our chance to get a new schneider 28mm and have the older one without tilt. The vignette on a GFX is pretty strong past a few degrees. We have the 50mm Schneider and it’s our favorite, however being our least used.

Hey Chris, thanks for sharing this info. I have a sony A7IV Full frame, and to get the shift feature, I'm thinking about putting a Mamiya 645 lens, 35mm on a shift adapter. Would this give me great results, or should i just use a 14mm Samyang full frame lens with shift adapter?

Hi Gam, Once you move to medium format platform, there is no going back. It is now years since i picked up a 35mm camera, so, as such, am not the person qualified to answer your questions. Sorry and good luck.

Welcome to the club. It is, in my opinion, the best Nikon PC lens they ever made. I have already worn one out, as that is how much i used it. Most all my architectural images are shot between f11 & 16. The Schneider 28mm I only ever shoot at 16 because the fabulous optic can handle it and one wants to have as much focus on the edges as possible.

I'm curious if you have a good alternative recommendation to that hard-to-find lens? Its on ebay right now for 7-8k, but that is hard to justify.

Sadly, I don't. Last year I bought a spare on for 4000 Euro, that is how much i value having one. Originally, Schneider was selling them for $8000. They only made 100 lenses in total. Then, as they were not selling, they dropped the price to $5000 and that is when i bought my first one. If you are in it for the long run, then 7/8k will still be a good investment, as, i think, the prices will keep going up.

..... but there now is the GF30mm PC, but that will only give you shift, not DAS

@@christopherleggettphotography Thank you for the reply. I'll keep searching for one of these lenses. I was thinking about trying the Cannon 28mm T/S but seeing your Schneider in action is compelling.

Thank you so much Christopher - really much and deep knowledge you share with us! I wonder if you ever stich and use flash or available light only..... Z9 and 19 is excellent combo - what would you use for more wide angle without too much distortion? Not sure, got the GFX 100 and wait for a TS Fuji lens since years....

You are most welcome and thank you for saying so. Never tried with strobe lighting. I try and avoid using flash whenever possible. Natural light is always so much more rewarding and now, with the dynamic range of the GFX cameras (around 17 stops i believe), it is possible to do amazing things without it. If it is the Nikon 19mm PC lens that you are referring to, which I deem one of Nikon best efforts in a long time. and you want more coverage, avoiding perspective distortion as much as possible, then I recommend that you use a Mirex adapter with your GFX. The coverage is amazing. I have made for you a Private Gallery on my website so that can view some samples of what can be done with that setup. www.christopherleggett.com/home/view_pg_all/505218b44 The Mirex company closed for 3 1/2 years, but they just advised me that they are now back in business, and if you like, I can give you an introduction. And FYI all i do, is for my pleasure and other than kind comments like your, there is no other reward for me. 😇

This is a really rare lens, where to buy?😄
@christopherleggettphotography

Yes, it has become very very hard to find. They originally were at $8000 for sale, but nobody was buying at that price, so Schneider stopped production at 100 units and dropped the price to $5000, which quickly sold out. They had no interest in making more, as at that time they were in contract with Phase One to exclusively product lenses for them. But keep an eye out, as one in a while one pops up for sale. Good luck.

A bit over the top with the HDR. Sucks all the life out of the image.
