I been hearing a lot of Baiken mains saying the stuff that you would say for Zato before the update, like "Baiken bros, it's so over" and all that shit. Is Baiken realistically considered the worst character in the game now?! Like, they only nerfed her parry, it can't be that bad! Wasn't she considered mid or high tier in the last patch? What happend?

Lk put her low tier last patch. From what I heard, they found out about some of her issues before Evo took place I guess. Which is not a properly address at that moment.

She was considered pretty mediocre I guess. The problem is that the low tiers were buffed, while she randomly got nerfed

I think people complain too much about this stuff. You said it yourself its only parry that got nerfed people think too much about the character and not the player

When she first came out, she was decently strong, but ever really reached the top echelons where Nago, Sol and the like consistently end up. They eventually nerfed Youzansen (That move where she swings a bunch of blades out of her sleeve in a circle) so that it doesn't pop up anymore, and makes the opponent fly away from you, which means no more meterless combos off of an overhead in midscreen. Her pressure basically requires that she gambles a lot, so she needs to take risks to make anything happen during offense. They gave small concessions like making her tether attack +3 on block and whatnot, but it doesn't really address her central issue: Which is combo conversion. A standard bread and butter combo from Baiken in most scenarios will work, but if you are just a few steps away from from the opponent, there's a chance it won't connect. So she can't really play neutral that well, because a stray hit from her far slash leads into basically nothing unless it's a counter hit. In the most recent patch, they universally nerfed DPs so that you can't RRC out of them to make them safe, and it applies to Baiken's parry as well. Not only that, but now you can't even RRC after a successful parry to follow up on it. They also nerfed the damage on parry by quite a bit in a previous patch. They also took away hard knockdowns after a Wild Assault wall break, and this also hurts her overall gameplan. And then she received absolutely nothing in return, which was almost comical to see in the patch notes. Other bottom tier characters received at least SOMETHING. Test and Johnny namely got some buffs them help their quality of life quite a bit. Johnny especially so with a stupid fast dash now. So basically: Small nerfs each patch, no significant buffs in return, low tiers getting some needed buffs and Baiken has basically gotten scraps since Season 2. So now there's a legitimate case that she's down in the low tier pits.
