This scene with Gio coming out of the pool brought back memories of when Trina met Spencer for the first time as Spencer and not as Victor, it was starling, Gio did look like Spencer a little because of the way he held his.

First impression is that Gio seems like a good guy. Genuinely nice, handsome, has a cute lisp. The resemblance to Spencer is uncanny mainly hair color, height, and physique/build. Someone said he’s reminiscent of Cameron as well and I can see that too. So far so good.

perfectly normal, there’s parents out there who live out of state or out of the country seeing their kids on holidays , its ok that Trina isnt constantly around her parents because remember her parents were to controlling. Her parents were telling her who she can or cannot date her parents didn’t like Spencer Trina also said that she needs boundaries from her parents and she may be talking to her parents by phone but it’s not showing in a scene

I don't understand it, if the writers don't want us to compare Gio to Spencer why are they doing EVERYTHING to have Gio remind us of Spencer? I then also realized after watching the Trina and Spencer pool scenes that THIS TRINA was not the TRiNA that played in the pool scene so why even bother about reacting those scenes now with THIS Trina. Once again it makes noooo sense. In my opinion the scenes just triggered Trina's grief all over again just when she was starting to move on with her life. I think Gio and Trina should have met in a way that would have been uniquely their first time meeting and it should have been with just the two of them and not with Joss and the pool as back drop. Because of all this I really didn't see chemistry between them at all. But, because of the sad ass writers rewriting history once again in my opinion every time we see Gio we are going to think of Spencer and it's their fault Lastly, I think Gio needs to have an edger side behind that good boy image. I want to know what's the story with his Mother? During all the conversations he has had he only has mentioned his Father but not one word about his Mother

It does make sense. They aren't trying to make him like Spencer. They are just having him doing similar scenes to tell her grief story. This is her grief story. They are using Gio to help her find herself again (whether people like it or not) this is the way they decided they wanted to do it. Gio will be a friend and he will encourage her to go back to college.

@@lisacox5405 Lisa I can see your POV.. But, it looks so clear that they want us to think about Spencer when we see Gio. If they didn't they wouldn't have done the rewrite of that scene. This Trina was not the Trina that was in the original pool scene. Soooo why? They could of had them meet in another way that was still triggering for Trina but a meeting between just the two of them. Also the writers have tied Gio to Spencer via Sonny of all characters You know Portia is not going to like that connection at all. I hope you are right, they become good friends.

I was trying to say that Gio will not be a clone of Spencer. Gio will still be his own person. Yet, Trina in her grief will look at Gio thinking of Spencer and he will be confusing to her for awhile. That's going to be the grief story. She is going to fall for Gio as she's still missing Spencer. She will be confused and he will get hurt because he won't be sure if she is falling for him or the "ghost of Spencer". That's the story it looks like they are going with from what I can see so far.

I think that a Spencer/Trina/Gio love triangle is being set up. Gio doesn't make me forget about NAC/Spencer, like I am sure that the powers that be want. I won't be surprised when Trina and Gio are used to prop up Joss and Dex's relationship.

The writing is on the wall already and has been for months.

I’m still going to advocate for Trina to have her own story. If this ends up centering her I’d be shocked. I see some people in the comments intrigued by Gio, but I haven’t seen anything that gets me excited as a Trina fan. He’s had multiple run ins with Joss and was flirting with her. If that works you as a viewer, I won’t judge. For me, I don’t want to see Trina, as a second option for anyone. I’ve seen some of the press around this kid and it’s interesting that they used his interaction with Trina in their headlines when most of his time was spent with Joss.This show knows Trina is popular and will use that. I’d love if they’d also write for her.

He never flirted with Joss. They had conversations. They used Joss to provide exposition and that's all. He was interested in Trina from the beginning. Joss still wants Dex and the show has made this clear.

@@lisacox5405 I believe that Joss and Dex will get back together. I believe Gio will likely be interested in Trina. I also believe his conversations at the wedding and at the pool before showed up including clear flirting. All things can be true. I also don’t believe the set up was just for the sake of exposition…biggest predictor of the future is the past and joss having long, solo conversations with Gio raised my eyebrows. As does his first solo conversation with Trina, which was him asking about joss…now, I could be wrong, but I take mental notes of these things…and that’s before we consider the writing and who they prefer to write for. Now, I could be wrong, but I won’t be surprised if we see Gio pursuing Trina while having interactions with joss that border on inappropriate.

No, not sad at all. I'm curious to see how this plays out. Trina need a friend outside of Joss to talk to and can be a soundboard for her (IF the writers wrote it that way; wouldn't trust them as far as I can throw them)

Gio is a distant cousin to the Cerullo's. He's affiliated thrice to the Q's via familial relational ties: Lois & Brooklynn (BLQ). His references to Olivia as his aunt and Sonny as his uncle, I believe are tied to his community relationships (Cerullo + Falconari) back in Bensonhurst. He doesn't refer to Ned as his uncle, so I'm guessing his ties to Q's are simply via marriages.
