@nenna585 She didn't ask Jason to come. The decision was made for her and she told him to just leave it alone. He ignored her and felt it was necessary to overrule her choices. Now if Brena got hurt that would have been on her but that was a chance she was willing to take. But she didn't ask for Jason's protection or to be reunited with Sonny. Se was living her own life. Brenda is not selfish. Needy? Yes? Insecure at times? Yes. But she has not been selfish for a very long time.

Star Weaver Disagree. Sam did not try to manipulate any of these three. She and Jax were a casual hookup. They cared about each other, but they were never in love. Sam did not need to manipulate Jax because when they split, she did not want anything from him. With Sonny, it was Sonny doing the manipulating. She loved Sonny. He just used her. She tried to leave several times and he used her love for him to manipulate her into staying. When she got pregnant, both Sonny and Jax thought they were the father. The both tried to manipulate and bully her into doing what they wanted her to do. Neither gave a damn what she wanted. She just wanted to leave and put the baby up for adoption, but Sonny would have none of it. In Sonny’s typical fashion, he manipulated and bullied her into staying and having the baby in Port Charles so he could be a part of it’s life. Sam never tried to manipulate Jason. It was his idea to pretend to be the baby’s father. It was his idea that they live together and raise the baby together. In fact just about everything they did, was his idea. Of course, he was in love with Sam.I guess you would have to call it loving manipulation on Jason’s part. Sam was the only woman who ever accepted Jason just the way he was without trying to manipulate him. Sam obviously was a manipulator in her early life. She never denied it. But not with these three. In each case, they were the ones doing the manipulating. Of course, if we are honest, we have to admit we all manipulate people in our lives. It is not necessarily a bad thing. Hell, we use it with our kids from the time they are born. Sometimes it is hard to tell when gentle manipulation crosses the line into controlling. Now aSonny was a master manipulator, Jax was more of a bully.

Susie Carugati Until she had a HUGE breakdown in the middle of a bridal shoot back in the 90s (its on KZbin) it was a 5 episode stunner and heartbreaker : she ended up in an asylum for weeks. A very realistic and well acted breakdown..The character grew so much by this point and after all the bad memories that the "I hate modeling" comment is not ironic for old fans..its meant to evoke memories and show that her character is not as superficial as we think.

L J Like the Erica Kane character on amc played by susan lucci, GH fleshed this character out so thoroughly over decades without replacing her..staying true to the character & the types of thngs she would/wouldnt do..liked/disliked. it's impossible not to get her. This particular storyline was the last i followed featuring Brenda. I wanted to remember her this way before the newer writers stepped in & ruined her. As someone who remembers her from the selfish scheming beginning & is close in age range i love the realistic evolution of her character : Now older & so selfless she HATES the superficiality of modeling...but she's still beautiful, spoiled & effortlessly fabulous..a masterstroke in character building. R.I.P. GH & daytime t.v. in general. THESE were the good old days.
