Yes, he was hurting and so was Alexandria, and after he kissed her, they did make up for that by showing the flashbacks of him and Laura. Now, the writers are writing him as someone who had cheated condinuously throughout his marriage to the love of his life, but not regreted it? Give me a break writers! I think they should take a look at that scene

Luke Spencer as Bogart. Another subtle and well done scene. I always loved that blue light in the sky and the glow around his hair. This scene struck me as in keeping with him not being a saint as well as rescuing a damsel in distress.

I think the only thing Luke was trying to do here, which is consistent with what he used to do before that summer, is convince himself that he can live without Laura and have a different relationship and be happy. It's a survival instinct. Bobbi was right in some ways that the love he had for Laura was destructive. I always had the feeling, even back then, that Laura could go on without Luke but not vice versa. Don't get me wrong, I love LnL1 and always did, but I recognized the two of them for what they were. For Luke, Laura was too much wrapped up in the dream he had of what he wanted for himself. He was desperate for her. When he couldn't have her, he would get destructive (going into mob life, raping her, getting engaged, telling Joe and Howard he didn't care if he went to jail or was killed, kissing Alex). He's just desperate and destructive here. Not only that, Alex is a rich woman and he's still trying to climb out of Elm Street, if nothing else than to prove to Laura and everyone else that he is worthy. For me, you see this again after Laura's "death." This pattern carries through to Tracy. Tracy doesn't meet the Luke we see here when they get together. Tracy meets a shell of a man who acts frenetic and desperate. He cons her and uses her but Tracy, being Tracy, lets him and falls for it over and over again. Tracy has her own problems. But I think the one thing that attracts Tracy and Luke to each other is that they both are desperate to feel worthy of love and acceptance and they find it, after a sort, in each other. It's sad and rather pathetic, but it's understandable to me because Luke is a hollow shell without Laura. He's gutted. Laura on the other hand, if you notice, is doing just fine. Which just goes to show my initial feeling about these two was spot on.

BUT.... I am not convinced of ANY of that. Think it's just something intended to see how fierce the L&L fans can be... to see if it is worth it for them to play it one more time. You know that amongst the many character trait of Lucas Lorenzo Spencer he is a boy that can't see the girl cry. She was hurting, he was hurting.. they made up for it by having him think of his commitment to Laura 5 seconds later..geez wish we would see some of Luke's conscience now in 2009... he has nobody to talk to, no Bobbi, no Ruby, he doesn't talk to his kids about his real feelings, he doesn't talk to himself anymore... but somewhere in there the flashback reel is playing every 5 seconds!

very true. Without the good people in his life who basically worked as his conscious, he always ran on anger. And when he was angry he was a jerk. (many guys are). He needed to have someone in his life who held part of his heart and was good for him: Laura, Ruby & Bobbie were the core three

Total rewrite. TBH this General Hospital pretty much ended at the 1981 wedding of Luke and Laura. Maybe the reunion of Luke and Laura in 1983 and the 1984 adventure in Mexico when Laura discovered she was pregnant with Lucky. Pretty much everything after that is rewritten BS. When Guza took over writing and Jill took over as EP, GH lost the family vibe and the hospital vibe. It became a mob show. To me the real GH ended then and the new GH started.

Alex is literally another Jennifer only her "come hither" seductress act makes her more annoying and unlikable. She tries too hard and I can't stand the way the actress delivers her lines. Jennifer was a spoiled brat too but she was a naive airhead. And that kiss literally came out of nowhere and makes no sense. WTH Luke? You don't like tears? If that was the case you wouldn't have slapped Laura when she was crying over leaving you. And Bobbi...yikes. "Well, if that's what you got for goodbye, love to see what hello is like". Girl, ew. Gross much? He's your brother. Some of the stuff they had her say is insane and creepy AF.

She's just a plot device, but since she's there, they do the fake triangle, just as they will do another fake triangle in the opposite way when you know who gets there.

I loved it then and still do. It was so soapy and fun!! It was during the writers strike. Gloria bought an old sci fi movie script and adapted it. It went over so well that when the writers came back from the strike they quit cause they weren't part of it. lol

I think it boils down to the 14 year age difference. To me Laura was better with the old Scotty. Not the one he became when Luke came on the scene. But the one who took her on that fantastic honeymoon to Hollywood. Their age difference was especially noticeable as they got older. In 2015 Luke looked every bit a 70 year old man, while Genie still looked like she was 40.
