@Jolie France No, everyone assumed they were together mutually and she cried rape, which was a very common theme in literature back in the day for a married woman to do after an affair. The show runners had changed the story by this point and it wasn't spoken of as rape again until 1999 when they wanted drama.

I don't think Ruby hated Laura...I think she was protective of Luke. Deep down I think she knew,of all the women he "dated", Laura was the best. And when Laura was presumed dead many years after these scenes,she gave the most tear jerking advice to Luke I've ever seen on GH.

Wants to look perfect for him? Like HE cares? Who does she think she's going to see, her brother or boyfriend.....yes it was "off" too many times. Even Luke called her out on it. If it was in the script; mmmm that was a bit too much. Though she did it well. She claimed her undying love for Roy & Scotty within months of each other. She admitted to Luke she was jealous & didn't want to be alone (psst Bobbie not with your brother, ok?).

Bobbie wants to look "perfect" for her brother?? can we say creeeeepy.......even Luke made a line in one episode that she acts much more like a wife than a sister and that it was [creepy] though not the word he used. She could go in her jammies.....like he cares? Or is this just me.........

I could understand wanting to look nice for your family. It’s normal. You want to be your best for them. It’s a sign of respect. Probably even more common back then to dress up for such occasions.

Yeah, true...I remember she first met Lucky when he was on the run and she asked him he liked hugs...JJ was so cute when he hugged her!!! Ruby was like a sweet cuddly grandma!

First Bobbie claimed that Scotty was a real man, and that Laura didn't deserve him. Now she's saying LUKE is the real man. Jealous much, Bobbie?

I can see that ... however unfortunately I don't believe they ever really developed the Lucky/Lulu relationship ANYWHERE near what I would like that they had... especially after JJ came back. I was disappointed with the lack of bonding of the Spencer children... but Bobbi and Luke they were the best siblings portrayed on TV IMHO.

NOBODY could have ever played sister Barbara Jean's part better than JZ. This scene with Laura PORTRAYS TO EXCELLENCE that FEISTY attitude. Though she really was a little TOO close to Luke for my comfort, but, who am I to say....

Right! Nobody ever called Barbar Jean an angel! She is sassy and judgemental.. but she certainly is protective of her big brother. They had this pact that not one of them would hang if they hung they would hang together... so she kind of sees it as them against the world.. and has a hard time keeping herself out of his business. lol I love how Laura and Bobbi's relationship grew over time (a couple decades!) based on their mutual love for Luke.

I would too, but if Bobbi had actually listened to Luke over all these months instead of letting her feelings for Laura blind her to the truth she'd realize that Luke needs Laura.

@sonyab1974 She was just jealous and insecure... she felt the same way about Laura that Luke felt about Scott... Luke called him "Scott the PRINCE Baldwin"... they grew up on the "right" side of the tracks and in a way both Luke and Bobbi always felt inferior in a way.... which made them be defensive. Loved that dynamic. It was really powerful, and it helped you get their motivation for a lot of things. Wish the depth of characters were explored this much on current day GH!!!

I read somewhere that storyline written months in advance had Laura returning to Scotty and her marriage thus keeping the lovers apart. But Ken Shriner left forcing a rewrite. Ken was popular back then. So I guess that's why there was no recast.

I've forgotten where I read it. But it supports my belief that TPTB never really knew what they had with Luke and Laura. There were many unintended consequences behind the scenes that kept them together.

@jlomax i dont think ruby hated laura either. she was just concerned about luke. lets face it the way LnL got together was very unconventional. laura was married, luke was obsessed with being with her and then when they finally have a chance to tell others what really went down between them laura betrayed luke. ruby always saw the side to the relationship that hurt luke, and it wasnt till later on that ruby understood the depth of LnL's love. IMO it was bobbie who was hateful not ruby

You know, when I watch this scene and observe Bobbie's protectiveness of Luke, I sometimes compare it with the scene in current GH where Lulu was ripping into Elizabeth about cheating on Lucky with Nikolas. Both were very protective of their big brothers. Very interesting...

What did Luke want out of their return? That they announced their involvement, their affair to the cops, her parents, her in-laws, the reporters? Sure! They say "hi mom, hi dad, Luke and I are together".

Luke saw Laura as a key to his social acceptance and mobility but Laura got scared and failed him. He couldn't wish away her faults and emotions and she couldn't do the same for him. In their bubble they could handle their relationship but in public, it was scary. There was the rape thing too.

That's what Luke wanted. He saw Laura as a ticket to high society as Emma Lutz would say it. He thought that the force of his personality would get Laura through. She did warn him. He never felt THAT guilty over letting go of her hand.

It is so sad how Bobbie and even Ruby treated Laura. I never understood that. Laura hung in there longer than I would have. When the kangaroo man came around, I would have said screw you Luke, I want a man who will treat me right and whose family might treat me right too. I know Mac would have loved Laura as a sister in law.

Uh...Amy only asked Laura for lunch...and they get all irritated with her. She's not that bad, really. They're just stuck up. Especially Laura. I get Amy is a gossiper, but come on, what she said was pretty normal conversation.

You can't really blame Bobbi and Ruby for trying to protect Luke from Laura at this time because he was ready to throw away his life because she hurt him. They don't know where he's at right now. They can only go on what they saw before and it was not good. So I give them a pass here. Laura messed up big time. She has to earn their trust again. That's the price she paid for falling back into her weak ways. I'm an LnL1 fan, but I was never a Laura fan until Luke. Laura was a weak willed ninny in my book and I couldn't stand the way she hurt Leslie and the Vinings. The way she married Scotty just to show she was a gown up. And still to this day I have no sympathy for her behavior with those reporters. She was growing a spine and she wimped out. Now she has to earn her way back and that's as it should be. It's the only way she'd ever grow up and get stronger.

But she was only an eighteen-year-old. Most of us as teenagers are still fairly insecure. So although I didn't like what Laura did, I can certainly understood her position. And she did warn Luke she couldn't handle those reporters, so its not like he didn't know this might happen. So even Luke was a bit naive too.

The way Bobbi kept grabbing Laura by the arm just made me want to slap her! If Bobbi's eyes were really open she'd know that Luke had his dream come true over the summer and she'd do what she could to help L&L reconcile.

@booshkah14 Luke and Bobbi were always VERY protective of each other.. it was a great sibling portrayal.. and so understandable considering the life they lead .. and that they only really did have each other to turn to.. and nobody else that could possibly understand.

I Hate the Trashy way Bobbie treats Laura, I know they're History and all, but it's getting Really old. It was Laura who saved Luke's Life! Laura got her Ankle Grabbed by Luke and then Laura helped him get out of the Marina!! Also Whst the Hell was Bobbie doing being one of Laura's Bridesmaids???? In the Big Luke and Laura wedding talk about AWKWARD!! and Bobbie didn't even Hug Laura just held her hand for a Brief second. That was the time to kiss the Bride and wish the Bride and Groom Best wishes and Good Luck In my opinion NO TO BOBBIE BEING ONE OF LAURA'S BRIDESMAIDS!!
