The writing is HUGELY important!!! There's a writer's strike right around the time GF leaves the show and the writing and s/l's get really bad. Even TG and TRs acting skills can't save it. It's so awful and there is NO comparison to 1979/1980. They are good at ad lib but it does not help one wit in 1982. Check it out sometime. Luke and Robert's characters don't even seem consistent...🤮🤮🤮

So glad to see these episodes, many of which I never saw. I think I did see the barn scenes back in the day, they are literally the scenes from when I first discovered LnL and "new" GH...but I hadn't recalled them 'til watching tonight...I had only recalled inside the Whitickers place. I LOVE the barn scenes! Luke was so charming, sexy, smooth, funny....then TG morphed him into such a screwed up, dark character. A shame. I get that as an actor he felt he couldn't play that romantic lead forever, and the same old thing, and yet because he wanted to keep his good gig for so long even after Genie Francis was gone they had to do something with his character, but, bummer. I will always want my Luke and Laura happy ending. And all the bad stuff they put between them I want to have been one big bad dream!! Period. The End!

What is cool about this clip is that it is a real poignant moment in the start of the love story, as now she has admitted she loves him. It's done so casually, and realistically, but is such a key moment in the next round of events to come. Great writing and acting. P.S. My husband thinks I'm nuts watching all of these (which I can live with), but if he can watch all those weird zombie movies, I think I'm getting the better end of the deal! 30 years of marriage and counting....

I think they should have let sleeping dogs lie rather than bringing them back and turning her into a resentful wife like he ruined her life which is what typical feminism is today which I'm sure the current writers are going to write about their political agendas of PC ism. These days of Soap Operas are over sad really replaced by foul reality shows and Game of Thrones! Only goal is to make trashier movies to get across indocrination it's not about entertaining the masses anymore. Rewatching these which when they first aired in 1979 I was 8 and I did watch GH regularly as I could got off of school in time to see it but after I went to middle school missed the rest we didn't have a VCR and I was into teen movies then. Seeing these again helps me understand everything from a adult perspective I had forgotten most of it. Better quality programming on 3 channels than 300 today of crap. It's sad really. A 17 year old and a 33 year old that's a big maturity gap. It's different than even if someone is 40 and the other 55. Maturity has caught up. Her real husband seems like a sweet man and can tell he's crazy about her. Glad she's happy and doing well. I did watch her in North and South caused I loved that mini series only thing I thought was done poorly on that was the fake southern accents ugh I'm from Tennessee and can spot a fake one a mile away. Didn't work too well with them regarding that. Still enjoyed the series though!

I agree. Now, marriage vows are only kept in terms of weeks on soaps. Two brothers share a woman, affairs. There's no moral compass, no life lesson, just sex.

I think she acted differently toward Tony Geary and that special "something" they had was gone. I believe they should have stopped after 1984. JMO.

I am of the understanding that both Tony Geary and Genie FRancis are consummate professionals... who worked very hard together to make each scene as good as it could be. I do believe it was not JUST them however. Gloria Monty had a vision of what she wanted her show to be, she staffed the place with people who could bring it to fruition. The writers and Mr. Geary and Ms. FRancis along with the rest of the amazing cast at the time were part of a group working toward the same goal. Perfection!

Luke was so big on people failing each other he uses that word alot as the years go by i think everytime something bad happened to laura he considered it his failure to protect her and i think that led to him letting her go not some great love for tracy but his love for laura

I think if Scott hadn't brought up David Hamiton in their argument it wouldn't have bothered Laura so much. Him doing that made it seem as though he felt that way all along about her but as long as the lived "up to" the standards he set for her he felt she could redeem herself and he wouldn't judge her for it. He wanted her to let him control her to make her what he felt she should be. Once he thought that she and Luke were having an affair and he had no control over her he felt she was just doing more of the same and lumped it all in with the David Hamilton stuff and saw Laura as a tramp. This is how it seems to me anyway.

I'd like to know WHY David Hamilton got off committing child statutory rape and then calling a 15 year old KID a CHILD A TRAMP???? What up with that? She was the victim and he the pedophile. It's irresponsible of a parent failing to protect their child. Plus I think it's a mistake to let a 17 year old get married to someone much older than them that's why their marriage didn't work out and if she waited it would have faulted and she'd wind up with Luke married etc. But that wouldn't make for much of a soap opera would it lmao!

I became a mom of 3, divorced, became an RN and have worked 25 years in health care. GH and L&L had my heart. As you know, TG retired in 2015 and the unceremoniously killed him off in Jan ‘22. I happened to read this and it drew me back, back to Port Chuckles😉. Although it’s been 30 years, I found myself recording and anticipating the return of the sweet Luke Spencer. Although teased, he never returned. From that I started watching your recorded KZbin videos from 77 to 2015. Luke morphed into someone I didn’t recognize anymore. Who killed Romeo??? I think the writers and perhaps TG bitterness with being pigeonholed into that GM creation. At the same time he speaks of “maintaining the integrity” of Luke’s character. So, now he’s gone. The show really sucks and the hope of his return is growing dimmer as the years pass. It’s clear it me, no matter what these actors say, that they loved and fed off of one another. It’s clear in the early work and interviews where Genie and Tony hold hands. There is a huge story there that we are not privy too. Nor should we be. They were breathtaking! I am hooked again. Their love and patience and forgiveness and passion drawn from their love of acting and each other and amazing story telling, is unique to them. In our space and time on this earth, they were my Romeo and Juliet, the ending slow but just as agonizing. 💔

So did you notice that at that iconic, pivotal moment of Laura telling Luke that she loves him, that there is a splice in the tape. She starts to say I love you, then a jump in the tape and then she says it again. I wondered if the chickens messed the line up or they asked Genie to do it again, or maybe Genie wanted to do it over. Probably no one can remember now, but it would be fascinating to know the reason.

Time stopped for a second when she finally told him she loved him, too! The way his face went from dawning realization, to that precious half smile and vulnerable voice asking "you do?" To totally lighting up with bliss and joy like that was all he ever wanted, all his dreams realized. Then saying he could wait, which proved the love was more important than the sex. Pure magic!❤❤

Hence, the need for Time's Up and so on. Many actors coming out about their stories of abuse. I can assure you that it is a well known fact in the industry that TG is gay. You can check it out by Googling and following several different stories that pop up. There are many credible sources supporting TG and his homosexuality.
