GH - Luke and Laura - 1979-1980 playlist p.268

Part 268 of L&L 79-80 playlist. 1980 Fair Oaks: Luke borrows money from Sally to help with his chore. Luke goes to the bus station to pick up the black book... and appears to be watched. **** This Storyline is really reaching a head... PLEASE try to keep comments spoiler free and only comment about the video on hand. There are a LOT of younger viewers watching this for the first time. I would really like them to see it as close to the way we did the first time.... though I know they know a lot of history that didn't exist yet for us. Let's just try. Okay?? THANK YOU!!

@sonyab1974 I love that line... because THAT is why we loved Luke Spencer so much... why we could forgive him all his short comings.. that despite how flawed he was as a human being... he could love Laura THAT much redeemed him.

That music playing in the background is so medieval/romantic sounding... reminiscent of Romeo and Juliet type romance or something, can't quite put my finger on it. Wish I knew what the title or musician was. Luke's smile when he says "I can slay any dragon.." ohh. it is just breathtaking to watch them towards the end of this.

@katjansen13 He says it NUMEROUS times... Lucky flat out asks him if he would ever do that to mom, in the mid 90's, and Luke says he would never (and that was way after the Ethan conception would have happened.. and LUke wasn't lying!!)

They were staying in a room upstairs from the Medallion. .... now from your screen name, like me, I am thinking in this mom role we forgot what it was like to be young, single and out on the town. In college we didn't even consider going out before 11:30-12.... we were never in until the wee hours, and then we never slept. But that was a LONG time ago!

LOL. That was such a "soap opera" moment when Luke caught the suspicious man in the sunglasses staring at him. Instead of looking away fast, they kept eye contact for soooo long. LOL. Quite an overdramatic moment, but it adds to the suspense....and I love suspicious Luke....so I'll forgive its "soapy-ness." lol

Hate as everyone else does that they wrote in he cheated on Laura. It was something he never would have done. He really loved her to much. I am doing my own rewriting in my head and it says he didn't do it lol.

In the 90's Luke is talking to Lucky, I can't remember the circumstance, but Lucky asks Luke if he's cheating on Laura. And Luke tells him he could never cheat on Laura. Nope I'll never buy Ethan being Luke and Holly's or that either of them would cheat. Cause Holly would never cheat on Robert!

Yeah the new people at GH were determined to ruin this couple. I have heard that Tony Geary did not want to continue the LnL love story and helped write all the new bs. They never should have included Nicholas or Ethan into the LnL storyline. Knowing the characters the way we did, both those storylines were stupid and ridiculous. Perhaps the fact that TG was not ageing well, played into the fact they had to break them up. Funny we forget when this was taped he was 31 years old making out with a 17 year old onscreen. Now that he is in his 70's and Laura 14 years younger, the difference is very noticeable. Maybe that's why in 2022 they had Luke killed off. They need to find Laura a very good looking man around her age who has tons of charm. Kevin is around her age, but is not that good looking and he is a very boring character, no chemistry at all.

The Victor and Nikki Newman pairing still works on The Young and Restless despite the age differences. Though good, they were/are no where near as perfect a couple as LnL.

Plus I don’t think they have any chemistry either. Even when TG was older, he and GF still had that something no other soap couple could match.

@@Mbird-fo3st It really makes the pairing of Luke and Tracy a big joke. TG just never had that romantic chemistry with anyone but Genie. Now I have seen Genie have chemistry with quite a few of her leading men; Ted McGinley in The Note, Stephen Nichols as Stefan Cassadine, Peter Bergman when she was on Y&R, and also quite a bit of chemistry with Tristan Rogers both as Scorpio and as her husband on Y&R. I wish the people who think Tracy and Luke had this great love would come watch these old clips. It is really an eyeopener as to the chemistry of Luke and Laura.

@@lisacarman167 I did watch her on The Young and Restless and she was good. I didn’t go back to General Hospital until after they took off Guiding Light and As the World Turns. I always thought Luke was a “cool” character but didn’t know the extent of the story until they talked about the show anniversary and the wedding last summer. So I decided to see what all the fuss was about. Now I am hooked. Of all the soaps I watched over the years, NO couple even comes close to the characters or the actors. In my book, it’s Luke for Laura or no one. 🙂

People would have accepted Ethan if he was supposed to be the miscarried child Holly lost of Luke's back when Laura was "dead" but that is NOT Ethan.His story was told like this:Luke and Laura were together travelling the world with young lucky and they got into trouble. Luke split from them supposedly to keep them safe. The bad guys followed Luke and shot him. He ran into Holly in Singapore and slept with her to create Ethan because he thought he was going to die. Laura forgave & took him back.

Of course we know Holly would never cheat on Robert as well; because during the Promethius Disk story line when Holly and Luke were being held captive and thought they were going to die, she said no way! To this day neither Robert or Holly has married anyone else.

This is the first time I heard the details of the story about Luke cheating with Holly. I remember in the '93 sl that Luke told Laura that he took care of updating the credit cards when he took the trip to San Francisco (or somewhere in Cali.) so I thought that is when he was supposed to have gotten together with Holly.
