Its the little things that shows how good the writers were back then. Like having the guy say he doesnt mix dock work with family time.

Hi D! I agree.... EVERYTHING was WELL thought out back then!! They just had conviction and went for it... none of this wavering back and forth trying to make everyone in the audience happy... and actually they ended up doing that because they KNEW what they were doing....and executed it with perfection.

Wow Robert blew it. Have to say in the years I watched circa 1980- 1990, that rarely happened. Robert was like James Bond/ Dale Cooper(Twin Peaks) combined. Rarely made mistakes. Loved him

My last fave storyline with Luke was when he and Carly flashbacked to his childhood home on Elm St. Luke played his alcoholic his dad and Carly played his mom. Plus three little kids who played Luke, Bobbi and older sis Pat.. good stuff.

Hi. I'm still enjoying working my way through all your Luke and Laura videos. I just wanted to comment on how I liked it how GH used to put in all the dock and harbor noises (fog horns, buoys clanging, etc.) when they did scenes down by the docks and at Kelly's Diner. It made it so you could really imagine that these places were along the ocean. GH no longer has any sounds in Kelly's, even when they show the outside patio of it, and rarely even have a dock sound when the characters are right on the docks.

As I understand the sound effects being accurate was REALLY important to Gloria Monty. It really gave a realism to the show. So much of that is missing on current day GH!

You have to remember the budgets for soaps have been slashed. That was one of the reasons they couldn't afford to bring Laura back permanently before, they couldn't compete with what she could make elsewhere. Talk shows and news programs are so much cheaper to make than soap operas. Most talk shows only have 1 or a few "stars" they have to pay. Soaps require a whole cast of characters to make the soap interesting. So I am not surprised they have reduced the quality of the sound effects and even the summer of love and adventure storylines. But dangit, they didn't have to completely ruin all of our old characters. The way they did Rick Webber was awful. The way they brought in Nicholas to ruin Laura and Luke. All those stories were not believable at all. That is why they lost most all of their audience.
