Wow! tony and Genie had done an amazing job with this storyline! You can see the pain that the both of them ar in with all of what has happened since the house had been shot up, and how even now, Laura is still so conflicted. Loved the clip, but hoped Luke was gonna come home, but it's coming soon enough I hope Lol!Loved how the last few minutes of the clip, Luke and Laura didn't even have to say anything, but we all know all that love and passion was still there.

I feel that way a lot watching TG and GF at work as L&L... it's crazy intense. This scene is really ... hard to describe! So damn emotional, but so many emotions all bouncing off each other... really incredible!

@1964nickel I don't think so at all.. she never wanted to protect herself... she never tried to deny her love for LUke when they were being hunted down by frank smith.. that first summer she could have just gone home to Scott. But she lived right out there on the edge with Luke. I completely think it is all about her kids. I can relate to her as a mother... and a wife.. and that struggle we all go through when our kids are born, and our men are no longer the #1 priority.

Back again, and I just want to say Genie Francis can do more in 30 seconds with her face than any actor can do in a whole movie! I saw recently a quarantine video that was a kind of "mock soap", and Genie Francis played a character that presided over the wedding finale of this mini-mini-series, and at the end she does it again with her face! Who needs words when you're Genie Francis!?

This is exactly like the Phantom rape scene they rehash. Laura says no no no but she means yes. That's what Laura explained back in early 81 when dining with Luke. She said they made love that night in the disco. But Guzza and other writers always rewrite history.

I agree with you Sus. She knows what can happen around Luke, and even though Luke is trying to do better, he is never totally away from it. She is hurting terribly inside to protect her children, and she knows it doesn't take much to have Luke back home.

I think when Laura began the whole "keeping the children safe" battle, it started as a wake-up call for Luke. But the longer she had let it go on, it was harder for her to pull it back and admit she was overreacting 😢 And how many times is Sonny going to tell Luke he's sorry?!

@monkeygrove I understand everything you are saying.That's what the logical, literal, part of my brain would say too, but the panic, the constant feeling of concern, the need to do right for your kids at all costs and always being concerned that you are not.. it is something that is not easily described.. but I think the writers were trying to express here in Laura. Luke told her if things went bad with Sonny he would get out of the partnership. Sonny offered and LUke declined. Gave her pause.

Wow rewatching this i'm sooo pissed at Luke he acts like their entire separation and all their woes are upon her shoulders, that she's the sole barrier separating him from her and the children, all he had to do to reassure her was break ties with Sonny and prioritize his family but he wants both and considering she followed his lead for 10 years running from Frank only to finally find a home and peace of mind it's just selfish to jump head first into more danger and expect her to follow, he literally leaves that scene begging her to reunite their family only to tell Sonny your fight is my fight wtf Luke just ditch him cut ties and go home.

@monkeygrove Ahh yep! He told her he would get out if things with Sonny got complicated.. but now he feel an allegience to Sonny.... I think if when Sonny offered.. he took the offer Laura wouldn't be as nervous. This would NOT have happend. She knows Sonny's business is dangerous (when woman cared about those things), and she knows Luke likes dangerous but she doesn't want that for her kids. Laura's conflict. Because we know they end up together it kind of takes away from the dramatic effect.

AddieCate has a video similar to this. The quality isn't quite as good as this one, but before they get up of the ground, Laura's character says, "I wished that making love solved all of our problems, but it doesn't". That is missing on this clip, but I think it's worthy to note that dialogue here so that we get an even better understanding about the heartbreak of this scene.

I think GF probably felt awkward during this scene because she's married now and I bet her husband, Johnathan Frakes, didn't like it. It's simply not the same as it was in the late 70s early 80s. The passion isn't the same, it seems forced to me.

They fired her from AMC. On her lifetime show she mentions how she cried all night when this happened.
