@@irmacavazos8186 Actually, according to Tony, Genie was already a master at her craft. Genie started on GH in 1976, by 1979 she had been the lead in many GH storylines. The David Hamilton story, the love triangle between her and Scotty and Bobbie, and running away and joining a cult. Gloria Monty sat Genie and her father down in 1977 and explained to them how she wanted to draw in the youth audience using "Laura". She knew Genie was an acting genius, a prodigy well before Tony Geary came on the GH scene.

For future writers in 1997. Look at this scene with Luke and Laura a year and a half after Luke forced himself on her at the disco and see how Laura is all out to get Luke for life. Also consider the fact that a few scenes back, Laura told Bobbie they talked over that night at the disco. But how dare you do what you do in 97 and cancel this, the greatest 2 year romance ever on any soap. Cancel Culture started in 97 on the GH set.

Oh my funniest thing happened tonight. My 16-year-old grandson came and sat down by me while I was watching these clips tonight. Just let me say, we have a new GH fan, lol. He loved all the scenes and is really getting into the ice princess story. Funny though, I told him this was from 1981 when I was 18, he said no way. I told him yes that is why they are a bit blurry at times. He thinks Laura is the most beautiful girl in the world. I tried to explain to him that "Laura" is actually 1 year older than me. He still doesn't believe it and wants an autographed picture of her, to go with his Taylor Swift and Bella Swan pics.

The thing I note is that a scene such as this didn't result in emmy reels for Genie. Young actress or not, I really would doubt whether this work or much of her work, didn't rise to the threshold of any of the other best actress/supporting actress reels that were submitted.

Once she got past denying to herself that she was in love with him in '79, she has never had any trouble telling him exactly how she felt, even when she had to backtrack to try to insulate herself from rejection.
