I don’t know why, because I haven’t watched GH in YEARS, but I miss these days. The writing was incredible. Gloria Monty was a genius. I wish there were more like her in daytime TV (what’s left of it)

Gloria was a genius like Agnes Nixon or Bill Bell. But she was really difficult to work with. She even butted heads with Denise Alexander. 3 years from the date these episodes aired Gloria and Denise came to blows over Denise's schedule. "Lesley" was still very enormously popular in the 80s. Denise's work schedule began to overwhelm her. She asked to have her air time reduced. But Gloria wanted to actually increase the air time while at the same time asking Denise to take a pay cut! Denise confirmed this herself in a Good Morning America Interview. ( though instead of mentioning Gloria's name she simply said "the producers". ) Denise said when she told "them" that wasnt acceptable they threatened to kill off Lesley. Denise did her best to come to an agreement but "they" wouldnt budge. So Denise quit and then of course "Lesley" was presumed dead in that car crash in the ice storm in 1984. Shortly after that Gloria paired Rick with Ginny Blake who had been revealed to be Mike's biological mom earlier. Ginny was played brilliantly by Judith Chapman. I think it was obvious that Monty saw her as a good and even younger replacement for Denise. Judith had a very impressive acting resume also. She had played on several soaps like ATWT and Days and she even had extensive roles on prime time shows like Barnaby Jones. Denise's didnt skip a beat and kept acting after she left GH. She had a very large role of Another World as Mary McKinnon in which she even got to work with Chris Robinson again for a while. She also did a stint on the short lived soap Sunset Beach. She also did some prime time guest spots as well. She finally was able to return to GH in 1996 when Wendy Riche was the EP and Luke and Laura and the Cassadines were introduced. Genie Francis had been trying to talk the show into rehiring Denise for quite a while. But the head writer Claire Lebine didnt want to do any return from the dead stories.

I just love this...so hard cuz both DA and CR expressed they wanted more challenging storylines than just Laura and playing a happily married couple BUT we the fans love our happily ever afters❤️...I always hoped for a surprise difficult pregnancy for she and Rick, would have been interesting...having an affair just isn’t in Lesley’s character which is part of why she is so beloved IMO...

I think that was in the future when DA left the show. Mikes mom had come back wanted her son. Had there been a custody battle, I can’t see Lesley not caving and giving Mike back to his mom. After all, Lesley had been through somewhat the same situation with Laura.

She's feeling that Rick is proposing only to make a family for Mike. When they divorced, Lesley felt that she was second best (to Monica). She fit the image of what Rick wanted for a wife: safe, respectable, a good mother. But she didn't feel that he married her becasue he loved and wanted only her. That's where the attitude is coming from. She's wasn't going to marry him for a 2nd time without feeling / believing that her wanted HER, and not just an image of what he thought marriage should be.

Thanks, I kinda got that feeling, but was confused when she said what took you so long. I just love all these videos. Thanks so much for putting the work into it. They were my favorite couple of all time, and the PTB absolutely ruined Rick's character!

GH absolutely ruined the Rick Webber character. The whole Laura catches him cheating and has a breakdown story was such crap. Suddenly, Rick was a serial cheater. It makes the whole Monica story plus this reunion story pointless.

From what I know......is Mike left when his real father Derek Barrington came to town. He left before Rick & Ginny moved away from Port Charles. No mention of Rick Jr. I do think it might have been mentioned or assumed that Ginny & Rick got a divorce. All I can say is this.....with Chris Robinson returning on April 1st & no mention of Denise returning I am MIGHTY upset! Rick's scenes are with Monica! Looks like ANOTHER kick in the teeth to Rick & Lesley fans! Rick & Lesley belong together!

OMG, you took the words right out of my mouth. I certainly hope RC is keeping quiet and having Lesley return. He did say Rick would have scenes with Monica and there would be an emotional payoff for the fans!! I hope he means R & L fans. The fact that they mentioned Lesley twice yesterday on the show makes me think she is not coming back because she is in Greece with Nik's son. OOOF. I pester, I mean tweet RC daily on this subject, he probably has me blocked!! LOL. It would be a huge SNUB to DA!

I am still holding out hope that they are keeping Denise's return a secret but if they are asking all these vets back for the 50th and leave her out that is going to be the ultimate snub! This time, I will write GH off forever. I have given them many chances and have tuned out for long stretches of time over the years. It makes sense with current storyline that Lesley would come back seeing that Laura is in town & engaged to Scotty + her granddaughter Lulu is on the verge of parenthood!

Not that I remember or come across. I read on a Luke & Laura playlist that Laura mentioned Rick & Ginny were living out of state but nothing that I can recall w/Lesley ever asking. I honestly don't think they started mentioning him until right before Laura's remarriage to Luke. You said it, no respect to history. I had read somewhere that CR did not want to come back to play the loving husband in 2002, that's fine but they didn't have to destroy history OR make him something he wasn't!

It's just like the GH writers to bring someone back from a catatonic state after 14 years and completely avoid the fact that the character might have a few tinsey little questions about what the hell happened to people in her life!

Yes, CR is coming back. Stuart Damon is coming back on 3/29. Thinking Alan will be a ghost as he has been since his death in 2007. Ron Carlivati,GH Head Writer is a Rick/Monica fan. Saying he wants to "right" what was done wrong to the Rick character in 2002! I say if he is going to reunite Rick w/Monica the character might as well stay dead! I know there r Rick/Monica fans out there but the majority r Rick/Lesley fans. Let Alan/Monica be the way it ends & give Rick & Lesley a happy ending!

I don't remember if it was on a website or was on YT. Who knows if it is all true. Judging by what happened it may be but to dishonor history was unnecessary. I MIGHT have bought that his marriage to Ginny tainted him but to go back & say he was a serial cheater bordering on psychosis was just wrong! I think I may have run across it on a Leslie Charleson fan site. I think she nixed that rumor too about not wanting work with him. Was bored on a Saturday night & surfed many soap sites.

LOL - You are thinking of the scene in his loft when Mike's grandmother is dying.. It's not a proposal, .. He's just sort of beating around the bush about marriage.. So, did they ever mention what happened to Ginny and the boys or was it just mentioned that Rick was still married to Ginny and the boys grew up? Because if they made Rick to be a serial cheater upon his return to GH, then he surely cheated royally on Ginny - I say GOOD TO THAT! Having asked that, I continue happily live in the GH 1978 - early 1984. :)

Do you remember where you read that about CR? That's sad because it really altered the storyline. I read on the internet that Leslie Charleson did not want to work alongside CR. Obviously Gloria Monty didn't listene to that.

Is there another Rick/Lesley proposal scene, where Rick starts reciting the words to "Love and Marriage"? I thought it was after the Rick/Monica affair. I remember it somehow. I was only 16 when this aired, and yet I seem to recall that scene.
