It was annoying how the writers tried to re-tool the storyline so that it looked like Sonny was so in love with Lily. The truth is, he married her as part of a mutually lucrative deal with her father, period. Yes, he did grow to care for her, but the center of his very soul belonged to Brenda--not Lily, not Kate, not Carly or any other woman they've paired him with. Brenda was his heart and he was hers and the way the writers ruined them when Brenda came back this last time is just sickening.

I never saw how Lily was compatible with him. I saw she saved him from prison but beyond that I never understood how Lily, a teacher was going to sustain being married to a mobster. How sway?? Shouldn't she have been married to a government worker like Garcia? LOL. Brenda the model whose daddy ran a cartel (kind of like Jax though really) was just as suited to Sonny's life, the writers just never explored who Brenda really was.

@@sageadvice157 Sonny had put Brenda through the test and he didn't even realize that she Ace it. She had gone on 2 dates with Sonny before he crashed into her car that snowy night. She took him back to his place, she kept him alert, she called his friend, and told him to bring a doctor, she let him draw blood from her body, not once, but twice, and infuse it into Sonny. He asked her to stay with him and she did. She kept his wounds clean, changed his bandages, gave him his medicine, kept him hydrated. When he was feeling better, and it was time for her to go Sonny asked her "You gonna turn me in?" her response was everything. "You don't save a drowning man, only to throw him back into the water." She stayed quiet about what he did. She then called to see how he was feeling, she came by to check on him, and bring him healthy food. She did all that for a man she barely knew. She would have never turned him in, he just never knew how good he actually had it.

It is All Lily's Fault. She was Born into the Mob, she knew Full Well what she was getting into. She also went out of her way to get between Sonny & Brenda who were obviously very much in love. She also had a hand in the situation Sonny found himself in with her father. Lily made all the choices that led to her demise. Period.

Lily was a doormat. She was a weak woman . And I never understood why the writers changed that storyline to make it look like Sonny was so in love with her. Sonny said it himself he should have left her early in there marriage. I don’t think the writers did their homework when it came to S/B. Definitely ruined it all in 2010. What a shame!! Carly couldn’t handle the life either that’s why she turned him over to the feds to run away from the mob. Sonny wouldn’t give it up for HER but he definitely did BRENDA.
