This video is of a bot created by me for guitar hero and similar games playing the bonus song Through The Fire And Flames by Dragon Force in the game Guitar Hero 3: Legends Of Rock on the Xbox 360 Console. In this run, the bot plays all 3,722 notes perfectly (full combo), achieving a final score of 984,346 with an average multiplier of 4.865.
To my knowledge, this is the BEST SCORE A BOT HAS EVER ACHIEVED for this song. Please notify me if this is not the case.
This device does not rely on any game modifications. I built this device by dissecting a standard Xbox 360 wired controller, and wiring my own relay switches to what were the buttons and triggers. For the whammy control, which is the analog two dimensional joy stick, I connected a binary switch through the proper resistance to put the joy stick down about 75% of the way. This can be seen in the video in that the whammy is applied for all sustained notes by toggling at a fixed frequency from off to 75% down at a rate sufficient enough to gain star power during star power sequences. I control these relay switches using a program I wrote and the files that make up the PC version of Guitar Hero 3 (relying on the fact that the Xbox 360 version and PC version of the song contain the same exact notes with the same exact timing). The program interprets the song data files, in this case, specifically the file that contains the timing and identity of the notes for single player expert mode for Through The Fire And Flames. The only user input is a key press to sync up the first note, and then the program closes the appropriate relay switch(es) to hit the appropriate note according to the timing information in the song data file. The program uses the whammy control on all sustained notes. I activated star power simply by closing the relay switch that is connected to the select button on the Xbox 360 controller. I also edited the song data file to contain an extra sixth 'fret' to simulate a star power button, placing in star power notes to maximize score. This bot is unlike any other, so this may be the only bot video you've seen that incorporates star power. I have taken this bot online, but I turn off the system before the song ends to preserve the integrity of the leader boards. It is just so much fun to mess with people's heads...
