I used the program for a while and found it to be fantastic. There is a setting to adjust for lag. The great feature about it is that it will automatically adjust as you go. So as you successfully get note after note, it increases the number of notes. However, if you start missing too many it'll take some away. Eventually you work your way up to 100% but it doesn't end there. As you continue to successfully get all the notes, it'll start taking them away but will expect you to still play them until you reach a point where you are playing the whole song by memory. That's considered 200%.

Look, he probably won't see this but what you do with this game is plug the cord into the "Line Out" on an amp, then mute the sound from your instrument IN-GAME, following that adjust the note detection from once you play not adjusting for sound. Finally balance the audio between your speakers or tv, whatever and your amp. Away you go you'll have "your sound" with the ability to learn the rocksmith songs.
