Hi , I bought new Gh4 and followed your settings as well as many other experts settings on KZbin, but when I shoot video it’s coming bright clear in camera monitor but darker in my Mac book 2019 16 inch.. I tried several settings even I done PhD in settings anymore but the problem persists,, I use (400-800 iso, 4K 25p, aperture 3.5, ss 50, AWB, indoor 1 roof light 2 led lights either side, luminance 0-255,16-235,16-255, zebra exposure +- exposure,, everything’s coming bright while shooting or playback in camera lcd but when I transfer to my Mac it’s become darker..I changed multiple settings but problems the same.. When I changed the up dial from video camera M to P or M and shoot video the LCD look and Mac look the same.. But I don’t like M or P mode bcz I can’t shoot with 4 k and the photage is as clear show in Mac as in camera LCD but quality isn’t good. Plz plz help and suggestions what to do.. as some people says maybe Mac book screen calibrations problem some says Mac book already calibrated.. what’s your suggestions

Hey Tony, at around 1:08:28 you mentioned that Panasonic lens doesn't come with hood and Olympus comes with hood. In my experience it's the opposite, all my Panasonic lenses(14-140mm, 12-35mm, 100-300mm, and 14-42mm kit lens) come with hood, and all my Olympus lenses (17mm f1.8, 17mm f2.8, 45mm f1.8, 75mm f1.8, and 14-42mm kit lens) except my 25mm f1.8 don't come with hood. Just want to clarify that. Anyway thanks for the awesome video Tony! :)

@EdStarkey9 жыл бұрын
+Lutte Kikker Oh I still have my camera, and I really love it!
@EdStarkey9 жыл бұрын
+Lutte Kikker But I must admit, if you don't set it up right, you can get a really noisy image. It can be easy to make an adjustment that could improve your image if you have enough light but make it much worst if you are in low light scenarios. One of these features is iDynamic, works great in bright light to try and help retain highlight detail while exposing mid tones and shadows, but in low light or low key shots, it makes the footage quite noisy.

I have had my GH4 for a couple of months now, and only use it for video, as it was really designed for. I have found that the built-in mic works very well compared to any other DSLR camera out there. It is expectable in most ambient sound (live music) conditions, but the Panasonic shotgun mic, made for the GH series cameras is much better, the only issue is it doesn't have a shock absorber, so be careful while handling it. My other issue with the audio is that you can't record on the 2 channels independent without the YAGH device (another $1700.00). The best way of making adjustments while recording is using the free camera app, it also make a great remote monitor with little latency. For focus I always use manual too, but that sliding scale that appears is really useless. I'm surprised Panasonic didn't use a feet/meter numeric display then that armature looking maintain/flower graphic, it would have been better when focusing in low light, but can see you're 10, 20, 30 feet from the subject. Anyway, I can go on agreeing and disagreeing all day, but all-and-all great GH4 review. ;-)

Tony, love this video but have to completely disagree with your comment that Program Mode-P is for people who don't know how to use the camera. Quite the contrary. I've been shooting in P Mode since 1996 when Nikon came out with Flexible Program. The P Mode is actually much easier and effective than Aperture Mode. In fact P combines Aperture Priority, your favorite mode, along with Shutter Priority like having these two modes in one. The reason most photographer have no idea how P mode works is due to not reading the manual and thinking that Program has no ability to change, which used to be the case before Nikon pioneered Flexible Program. Old habits die hard and most all photographers have used Aperture Priority if not using Manual. But when shooting in the Program Mode the camera will initially select the shutter speed and aperture and I'm guessing this is why you feel this is an unacceptable way to shoot. No photographer with their salt is going to let the camera decide what they will be shooting at and that's a legitimate argument. However, what you seem to be missing is the realization that you CAN manually change the Program Mode settings that the camera selects by turning the main dial on the back of the camera. Turn it to the right for higher shutter speed and to the left for smaller aperture. It's an amazing way to shoot. And most importantly, for this conversation about the GH4, Lumix's Program Mode works just like Nikon's. You should try it, I think you will see the power of having Aperture Priority and Shutter priority all in one mode called Program. More info on this exact subject on my Blog at naturalexposures.com/photography-using-nikons-flexible-program-mode/ Great video for new Lumix users!

You neglected to mention that you can use the app with a tablet (I use my iPad) and that you can see the pictures full size and use the app to take the pictures so that you don't have to press the shutter button on the camera, although you won't be able to see raw images on your tablet, so I shoot raw+ jpeg when I use it with my iPad. Also important to let others know- there are multiple Panasonic apps. The best one, and the one that lets you preview images on your device, is called "Lumix Link"

Nicely Done Tony! I use to own the company that produced JumpStart Guides, we produced 55 DSLR specific DVD's and a number of other types of DVD's. Yours is much easier to produce than ours were, and I think just as well done. I don't personally understand the mathematics behind your valuations on -for example - what a Oly 45 1.8 is if you convert it to FF values. My understanding is that a 1.8 is a 1.8, etc. While the crop factor is different.
