Tom, this has to be one of the best examples of super high production values for KZbin reviews or for that matter, any video. I'm watching on a recent LG OLED monitor in UHD and every shot is tack on for focus, Color looks great. Lighting and exposure look stellar. Audio is perfect. Certainly am going to come back to this as a benchmark for work (audio tutorials) I will be doing. Was particularly blown away by the outdoor shot where to Atomos monitor was virtually indistinguishable from the actual scent in both light level and color fidelity. We are truly lucky to be living in a time where such high quality tools are available. It's nice to see someone actually use these tools at such a high level. Thanks for your reviews. I enjoy them!

Is it best to film with fixed focus or auto focus? I'm in doubt between the Sony AX700, Canon Legria GX10, Panasonic GH5, Sony a6500, Sony A7 series ..... camcorder or photo camera. If anybody else has some tips, it would be greatly appreciated! Our purpose is to grow to a pro outfit.

Where did you get the lens support from? I can't find it. Also, what is that ring you have around the 50mm? It looks like something of a workaround to the rotating front of the lens. I have the 35mm and hate that it rotates, because it makes screw on polarizes ruin the shot once you pull focus

Very cool stuff, for sure. But, I am working with the GH4, and my budget would never allow for those lenses. Maybe someday. The Cametv cage does look useful, though. And for now, I could possibly just use my old phone as a larger external screen. What do you think?
@TomAntos7 жыл бұрын
Steve Fullick if you already have the GH4 then I'd say stick with it. The GH5 has some great features but it's not something everyone needs. Main things are the in body stabilization and 10bit recording. If you don't need these features then no reason to upgrade.

Look at it. It performs terribly. Chromatic aberration everywhere in his test video. I usually don't care about pixel peepers and chromatic aberration, etc, but it's brutal on these lenses. To the point where it's actually distracting from the shot.

Noob question: How does resolution work for anamorphic lenses/footage? Like, what was the output resolution for the footage that you shot in 4k?
@TomAntos7 жыл бұрын
Kyle Armstrong output resolution is still UHD on the atomos recorder. Internally it's higher vertically but it doesn't make a difference unless you plan to finish higher than 4K
@nissanfreak227 жыл бұрын
Tom Antos Huh, okay that's interesting. So once you take the file and starting editing it what resolution is the original file? For example, in HD (not UHD) would it be something like 2560x1080 or is the higher resolution capped at 1920. Sorry if I don't make much sense, not sure how to explain it. 😩

While I appreciate videos like this, it seems like we’re always seeing KZbin dudes playing with all kinds of cameras and monitors and building “rigs”. But we never really see any actual films they’ve done. Usually it’s an okay short film that might as well be shot on a lower end DSLR...or some silly ass “travel” video BS. I’ve learned a lot, and these channels are alright. It’s just frustrating thinking guys like this have piles of cameras, lenses, and other expensive gear just sitting in a room looking pretty.
